Being a security guard

I never thought it would come to this, but I just got fired today, and I think I'm going to apply to be a security guard. Seems like easy work that pays more or less what I'd be making at a boring office job. (I've discovered I do not like office jobs)
Has anyone been a security guard before? I know nothing about the occupation besides that it seems easy and a little boring.

Well don't leave me hanging...how do you wipe your ass?
Actually, you're right...I don't know why I feel compelled to consult the Shroomery with every action I take in my life, but it just happens.
I guess I just like feedback.

LOL!
To the original question, I've always kind of wanted to be a security guard. I think I'd be good at it, I'm about 6' tall, although not especially brawny. I think it would be pretty easy most of the time, but it might be kind of intense once in a while. I dunno. I'm working in an ice cream shop right now (assistant manager) and I had a pretty scary incident last week when some guy got knifed outside the store, and I would imagine you'd actually have to deal with stuff like that once in a while (unlike me, I just hid in the back room and called the cops).
I wouldn't go for the job just because it's probably easy and boring though. What actually interests you? Obviously you're not cut out for an office job (and who is, really? I can't imagine working in an office) so that's out, but what actually interests you?
Animals? Food? People?

Oh! I have an answer:
It's because I have no confidence in myself right now. I've been feeling pretty out of it the past few days.

Can you get a job working with plants somehow? Like maybe in a greenhouse, or working for the city in park maintenance?
Jobs that don't interest you, or that you only take because you "probably won't hate them" (my usual logic) never end up being even remotely satisfying, at least in my experience. Why not go for what you really want, instead of settling for something that you think would be easy?

That would be a dream come true as far as working full-time goes. I guess I'll make it my mission to apply to every plant nursury in my county over the next few days. I did have what I thought was a successful interview at a garden center a few weeks ago, but the guy never called me back. I called him earlier just to bug him about it, and WILL CONTINUE to call every few days until he lets me know either way.
Yeah, security guard sounds like it'll suck. But I need a job within a week or so otherwise I'm going to have to move back to Texas and live with my parents. Ugh.

I used to be a security guard. It was pretty cool. I used to get high at work all night. I was the only guard on duty at nights for a metal scrap yard. Every once in a while I'd catch people trying to break in. I'd just tell them to leave or I'd have to call the cops.

I hear ya. Just don't get stuck doing something that isn't getting you anywhere though.
I wish there was a nicer smiley for smiling. Just know I meant that stupid grin as more of a "trying to exude confidence and caring and well being" sort of smile than a retarded grin, k.

Yeah, but minus the physical contact. I rarely hug people, and even e-hugs are a bit disconcerting for me.

Yeah, I'm in transition right now. I'm waiting to get financial aid for college but I still have to make $$ so that I can survive. It all feels so tricky, coordinating my life.
Thanks for the jolt of clarity and have a hug!
