Are these oysters?
    #8250941 - 04/07/08 02:20 PM (16 years, 12 days ago)

I found these while walking down a trail in Seattle. They were growing from a log that had a ton of what seemed to be Trametes on it.

Spore print turned out to be eggshell white (taken on black paper).

If these are oysters I'll be making a few petri's! Also found a lone Stropharia ambigua.

I also found this on another log. Seems someone knew about Artist's Conks, hehe. It made my day a little happier seeing this.

Yep, I'd say those are oysters. Spore print should come out pink.

Spore print came out white, the mushrooms that I dried also turned a yellow color. They were beige/grayish at first but now they have a definite yellow tint. They smell nice though and I took a small nibble from one. Not exactly "delicious" (I don't eat edibles very often), but they do taste better than store bought oysters I have eaten before.

I've got spore prints and soon (if all goes well) a few cultures (2-3 plates) if anyone wants to trade.

I've collected/hunted alot of mushrooms before but this is actually only my 2nd wild edible find. I usually hunt for actives and medicinals but I might start hunting for edibles. Seems like a good way to pass the time until fall gets here again.

Yea the first two pics are certainly oysters; from Seattle to Mississippi, they all look the same... I would suggest having them fried
