stir plate Question

I just made a stir plate,and my dex and malt are on the way,I have my clones grown out on agar but what I dont know is how strong can the stir plate be.right now ive got a strong funnel,is that to much?ive found if I cut my wire a little longer I can make it spin with no funnel.so any ways to funnel or not to funnel
