monotub question
    #8228081 - 04/02/08 10:43 AM (16 years, 17 days ago)

can you drill your holes after putting in the substrate and covering with the plastic film?

I'm not sure how much volume my manure/wbs will occupy ( I do have a good estimate however)

also, would two monotubs that are 23.9l X 15.9w and 2" <- (substrate depth)
be better than one monotub that is 4" in depth?

This is my first time attempting a monotub and I would like to know which would have the best chance of success..

I'm guessing that 2 monotubs with a 2" substrate depth would be best for overall surface area and its not putting all your eggs into one basket.

i think you got the right idea but increase in depth will also increase ur yeild too.

all depends on how well you read the faqs... experience and the quality of ur sub strain.

good luck man... im sure it will turn out well

I would agree with you. I would much rather have several smaller tubs than have 1 monotub. I cant give you many specifics on monotubs since Ive only used martha's but I would think you would want a bit more than 2'' deep of substrate.

its not really too late to drill my holes its just I don't want to find out that the volume expanded when it got hydrated to an unknown capacity

Yeh you can grill holes still just make sure its covered up.

Ive done substrate depths of 8 inches and the mushrooms were very healthy but I think 4inches is Ideal. 2 in. will work though. To awenser your original question though....two tubs with 2in. each would yeild more than one 4inch tub. More surface area= more :mushroom2:.....
You should do two 4inch tubs
