Ignore Feature

I have occasionally utilized the "ignore user" feature at the Shroomery, but usually re-set it after a few weeks. It is handy when a particular poster goes off on a rant, or clutters up the forum with worthless threads.
If you could utilize this feature in Real Life, who or what aspect of your daily experiences would you put on Ignore? Why?
I would love to put President Bush on Ignore for the remainder of his term in office. I would also put the "War" on terrorism on ignore, and all celebrity news. There is no one in my personal life whom I would ignore, but it would be nice to be able to selectively apply the feature to obnoxious strangers and extremely fat people who walk down the center of the aisles in grocery stores.

I do utilize that feature in Real Life.
I don't watch T.V. anymore. I Ignore it. And that solves most of it.

Yes, I quit watching commercial TV three years ago. I've also quit reading the newspaper & listening to commercial radio...both very effective ways to "ignore" the hyped-up, negatively-slanted versions of reality promoted via the media.

I check the headlines on the Yahoo! home page when I log in to get my mail, so I am not entirely "in the dark." Most of the news is entirely worthless, in that one cannot act to change it & it is sensationalized AND chosen for negative content.

No my friend, those glued to television screens and running around busying their mind with "NEWS" are the ones who have no idea of whats 'going on'.

I don't think that the news will help you understand anything. Try reading, particularly some of the great philosophers and psychologists of our time. The core issues concerning humans have not changed in many thousands of years of recorded history, so even the ancient Greek philosophers have not become "dated" with the passage of time. Epictetus is just as correct and helpful today as he was in his own time.

That is easy. I gave away my TV. Bye bye news, bye bye politics, bye bye celebrity gossip, bye bye movies and all that other useless time wasting BS. Now I have time and attention for real life.

I put the world on ignore once. I felt I had to in order to at least try to dismantle the impermanent mental constructs that I had come to know as me. I felt bound by a deterministic mental program. When I returned my interest to worldly affairs I glimpsed the stressed face of what has been called G*d.

Pure as we begin.'

I try not to ignore actual events or information, but I am picky about where I get my news and information from.
Television is for entertainment purposes only. Even the more informative channels seem to still be mainly geared towards entertainment (CNN, History Channel, etc.)
I don't own a TV, but I still like to download episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

I would put all my meaningless worry on ignore.

News about Iraq.
Why?
You have to ask?

I hope Oprah gets so fucking fat that she expires from bed sores and gangrene.
