Cakes not fruiting? Help
    #8215259 - 03/30/08 03:49 PM (16 years, 2 days ago)

Hey,
I've had my half pint cakes in a pmp chamber, I don't have a hydrometer but I will be getting one today.

My cakes seem to be adding extra fluff instead of pins, even some of the mycelium is extending into the hydroton like it's trying to colonize it. Is this a sign of too much humidity?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

hydroton?

is that like perlite?

anyways put something between the cake and the perlite you dont want it to do that.

and maybe you do need more humidity. did you dunk and roll the cakes?

how long has it been?

make sure you give the cakes an extra week after full colonization in the jars to help strengthen the myceliums hold on the sub and it usually helps pinning.

It has been about four days, hydroton is not like perlite, it's like small clay pellets..

I dunked the cakes for 16 hours each... read in Magash's tutorial that you should put them directly on the rocks..

thanks for the hlp

hit it with some direct spray and just chill out.. dont worry about FAE at this point i wouldn't say..

i've heard it's good to choke em off a little (let co2 build up) to get a better pinset then, once it pins, give it plenty of FAE.

works for me.

i concur Dr. let c02 rise for about 48 hours, no more. you'll have pins in two days.

"It has been about four days, hydroton is not like perlite, it's like small clay pellets.."

I think your fine dude just wait. Once you dunk the cake and
have that good of temp and humidity you just need to wait and do nothing because you will not fail. Don't think its going to fail and do something stupid.
