Baseball Season Previews...
    #8214137 - 03/30/08 11:58 AM (16 years, 20 days ago)

These are done by a friend of mine from his website here.

He's been watching baseball about 3x as long as I've been alive and is pretty knowledgeable.

I'd be curious to hear what you guys think of these....

Defense: Acceptable
Intangibles: Few and far between

2) SAN DIEGO PADRES
Hitting: Send help!

4) ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS
Hitting: Inconsistent
Pitching: In turmoil

AMERICAN LEAGUE WEST

1) SEATTLE MARINERS

Pitching: Excellent
Defense: Just fair (except Ichiro, who is outstanding)
Intangibles: Suddenly the favorites. Can they handle it?

2) LOS ANGELES ANGELS
Hitting: A bit long in the tooth, but still solid
Pitching: Injured. This really hurts.

NL: Cubs over Dodgers, Brewers over Phillies; Cubs over Brewers in NLCS

Another deranged Cubs fan who started at the conclusion and worked back from there.

You're quite right. It galls me that the Cubs are no.1 in all time failure. That rightfully belongs in California somewhere. Or Canada.

No, but seriously.

We should be pretty good this year. Better than last year, and we made the playoffs then.

I think they will be pretty good. Pitching is not quite the beauty you and your pal seem to think, though. Z is always a suspect in my book and Ted Lilly is just OK. Rich Hill? Crapshoot. Dempster? Desperation.

Dempster will be back in the pen by May.

That was the #1 or 2 staff in the NL last year.

I don't think that was luck.

Odalis Perez is an opening day starter. The Nationals are doomed.
