pinning question *PICS*

Here is my setup: and here is a closeup of one of my cakes: First off, do my cakes look healthy? This is the first time i?ve ever grown mushrooms and i?m not entirely sure what I should be looking for in a cake. Also, it has been 7 days and I see no signs of pinning. My cakes used to be sitting in the perlite itself and they got pretty water logged, so that may be affecting them. I realize 7 days is still somewhat early, but I can?t tell if my cakes are anywhere even close to pinning. What signs should I be looking for?

Hi, I don't know if its just me, but your pics did not post. Your cakes should look nice and white, probably a little fluffy in spots by now. If they look any other color you may have a problem. Note that if you get water or drops of water on the cake it might slightly blue. You want to look for small little white knobs(size of the a pin head. hence the name), these will darken around the head and then start to grow.

The lack of detail makes it difficult to make a good evaluation, but I think you're fine.

No contams on those cakes, be patient, keep the humidity up, give light, and fan 2 times a day. Cakes can take a while to fruit, give it another week at least before you need to be concerned. Its the light and temp change that gets them pinning, make sure you have your temp lowered some people cold shock but thats not appropriate for your set up, unless its cold out side or you have a big fridge, either way, id give it a while, keep us posted. Having your humidity or temp would help, is that the light your using (nightlight?) in the upper right corner?

ahh i forgot to mention details. The cakes are sitting at around 95% humidity coming from a vicks cool mist humidifier with a mixture of about .5 cups of 3% h202 per gallon or so. They aren't heated actively but remain at about 71 degrees farenheit. I leave that tiny 5 watt light on 24 hours a day and although i hadn't been fanning them until about the 6 day mark, I am now fanning them 3 times a day.

I've read it here a few times that pins can grow toward reflected light from exposed foil.
