Mycelium losing vigor in WBS jars?

Hey fellaz,
I had some GT incubating in WBS quart jars. (Multispore inoculation)
3 of them came out healthy, thick and contam free.
The others started off just as strong and, at about 50% colonization, slowed down considerably and became much much thinner where the newest growth appeared.
At 80% it looked like 2 different jars in one.
Where the jars were one week, i could barley see the WBS due to the dense mat of myc... Where the jars colonized afterward, i could barley see the myc, just some whispy peach fuzz...
Anyone have this happen to them before? Any idea why the myc would start off so strong and then lose it's strength?
Thanks!

~Could this be due to a lack of/loss of moisture? Too high Temp? What are you using for lids/filters? Perhaps the jars just need to be colonized even longer? I don't really know; just trying to come up with ideas. Can you post a pic of this? ~Pixie~

Well, my lids are regular mason lids with 2 tiny holes drilled into them with a tyvek and polyfill filter under that. But i also tape up my holes and have never taken the tape off cuz I've done it this way for a while with no problems and zero contams.
I would think that no holes would mean no way to lose moisture but I've been wrong before... many times.
I keep my temp at around 75-78 in the incubation room.
I was thinking maybe a lack of Oxygen?
But I have never had this problem before! I HAVE seen this sort of growth on a bulk substrate after i mixed BRF spawn into it. The BRF spots recovered and formed bright white myc patches but the rest of the sub colonized with a thin, almost invisible layer that never really got any thicker. That tub contam'd with bacteria eventually and i never got to see if it would fruit. That was one of my first casings...
So maybe it's a bacterial contam issue?
I can't take pics tonight as the jars are in a room connected to a bedroom and people are sleeping but I can try to get some pics in tomorrow morning. Unfortunately all i have is my horrible camera phone and it might not be able to show the detail needed.
Thanks for the reply!

Sounds like a contam to me. I've had similar things happen, and there was an ammonia like smell upon opening the jar that confirmed the contam.
