not sure i can keep my dog

So because I'm an illegal sublet in my friends' house, I can't keep my dog over with me. Consequently my friend's parents have been taking care of him - and they have grown quite attached to him, and so have I. My friend's dad gave me a very stern ultimatum, have him gone by friday or we're keeping him. I haven't got a place lined up at all and I'm not able to search for a place until friday anyway, and my friends won't let me bring him home for a few days while I figure this out because they figure an additional violation would somehow change the situation. So I've been sitting at my computer for a few hours thinking about what to do. I know I want to keep him, but in the long run it would probably be better that he live with the parents because they have a dog he's quickly become friends with and they'll have all the time to take care of him and stuff...

I'm sure you'd probably be doing it already if you could, but don't you have any family that could take care of him for a week? If you can afford it there's the dog kennels (doggy motels) you could put it up at for a week where they take care of them for you.

Yeah alot of vets offer boarding services also, some are pretty cheap (around $10-15 per night), others are more expensive, but if you're really set on keeping the dog it may be the only option

the thing is that I really love my dog and I'd love to be with him to hang out all the time but the fact is that it's a lot more likely he'll lead a more happy/less lonely life if I give him to my friend's parents. I hate this shit, wish I'd never got him now

I think you should let them keep him but make sure it's OK with them that you visit once in awhile to say hi. If he's really happy and has a friend and they take great care of him (which it sounds like since they already have a dog) then I think it would be very selfish of you to stuff him in a kennel somewhere until you can figure stuff out. You should consider yourself lucky that you already have people you know that love him enough to want to keep him.

Actually that's what I was thinking earlier, and he's the type of dog that can make lasting friendships with many people, it would be a selfish move of me not to consider what's best for the dog. In any case he's not in the pound so that's a plus. I think this is the best possible solution, thanks man

Parents sounds like the best option. Its not like you'll never see him again?
