Cracked Corn Smell

Hey Guys,

My buddy knocked up 5 jars of cracked corn last Wednesday, so it has been 6 days. He sees some mycellium growth at the bottom of the jars, and had an interesting looking piece stuck to the side with significant growth. But anyway, he removed the foil that he had on the top of the jars today, which left only the tyvek envelope. He smelled the jar and noticed that it kind of smelled rotten, but it kinda smelled like coffee. It is a strange smell, and he is not sure if he should wait another week and see how they turn out or not.

Anyone here had any smells coming from their cracked corn? I would think that the corn would have sort of a rotten smell coming from it, since it it wet, and has been sitting in a damp jar for a week.

Any ideas?

How did you prepare/inoculate it? It can be hard to tell, but any kind of unpleasant smell is typically contamination.

I trashed it today.. It smelled like garbage... I won't be using CC again..
