i guess its true. i was smoking weed like every day. and at new years i choose to stop. some one mentioned in a lucid dream thread that its almost imposible to have a lucid dream while always smoking trees. after hearing that i was thinking no wonder i couldnt have lucid dreams when i wanted. ever seance i read that, i have been trying and i have been having lucid dreams. they are never really fully lucid yet. i have just been aware that they are dreams, and comeing to a fuller realization that they are dreams and i am the dreamer. i hope to soon be fully lucid and able to have my thoughts more clearly.

I've been having lucid dreams since I was a kid, sometimes every night for weeks at a time. The only time I normally wake up during a lucid dream is if I try to have sex with someone in my dream. But, I can also force myself to wake up sometimes, if the dream is too fucked up or intense. I was on seroquel for a while for sleep issues, and with that stuff, I had lucid dreams every single time I took it... only problem was the dreams were absolutely horrifying, gory, zombie slaughtering massacres. I've never really been able to control my dreams much, although I can fly pretty much whenever I want to in them. It just kinda feels like a part of my brain clicks on, and I have to work it to remain flying. At any rate... Congrats on the lucid dreaming! One thing I've heard people say helps is to ask yourself during the day a lot "Am I dreaming?" You'll become so used to it that eventually you'll ask yourself in your dreams. Good luck to you man!

obtaining the lucid state is fairly easy for me. its staying asleep during the lucidity that is my problem.

I've managed lucid dreams a few times in my lifetime, but not for quite some time now.
Last night though, I had a pretty weird dream experience. I was dreaming in my dream. I dreamed that a comet hit the earth and everything started to go to hell, then I woke up in my dream and thought that I was really awake in real life only to have the comet come hit earth again, and then I woke up in my dream again. This repeated three or four times before my alarm clock woke me up. I am kinda miffed that I got woken up because it would have been interesting to see how many times it would have repeated if my sleep was uninterrupted.

I never heard that smoking weed prevents lucid dreams. I have been smoking every day for four years and I had one lucid dream two years ago, at the time I didnt know what it was until I looked it up after it happened. Havent had one since.

Smoking weed generally suppresses dreaming, period.

I've found that passing out drunk helps me have lucid dreams sometimes. Once you start haveing lucid dreams, and makes sure to try to remember them. After that, they become more frequent, for me anyway. Any heavy drug use is bad for having lucid dreams in my experience. When I wake up from one, I try to run through the entire dream in my head and try to remember all the details I possibly can, and that helps me to continue being able to have them.

as far as drug use and lucid dreams go, maybe one exception to your rule would be opiates. the only time ive ever had a full on lucid dream where i actually stayed asleep was after passing out on 20mg of oxy. although the experience was hardly pleasent, as it was haunted with all things demonic and wicked. a very dark, very real feeling experience. i was glad to wake up from that one, lol.

Well I said that it was almost impossible for me.
Anyway, some tips for becoming and staying Lucid:
Try to conserve your sexual energies, try abstaining for one moon cycle.
Every time you look at your hand when you're awake, ask yourself out loud "Am I Dreaming?"
Everytime you walk through a doorway when you're awake, ask yourself the same thing out loud.
Put notes up around your house that say "Is this a Dream?" You'll eventually see one in a dream.
When you're awake spend some time with kids under 12 and try to get in their mindset.
When you're lucid, try to feel as connected with the characters as possible by sharing secrets or telling jokes.
When your lucid and feel yourself waking up, start spinning around clockwise, this will keep you in the dream.
I had a lucid dream recently where when I became lucid I said "Namaste" and everyone in the room stopped what they were doing and said it back, it was awesome.

With opiates, it's funny because, you'll find yourself in a state of half sleep/half conciousness, so even when you're awake, it's like being in a lucid dream.

It's weird that he made this post b/c im going through this same thing right now.
-------------------- Man is timid and apologetic; he is no longer upright; he dares not say "I think," "I am," but quotes some saint or sage. He is ashamed before the blade of grass or the blowing rose.Man postpones or remembers; he does not live in the present, but with reverted eye laments the past, or, heedless of the riches that surround him, stands on tiptoe to foresee the future. He cannot be happy and strong until he too lives with nature in the present, above time TRANSCEND

It was weird cause I don't ever say it, it's an East Indian word used by Yoga types.
It's pronounced 'Nahmah Stay' and a look at it's meaning explains why I said it to the characters in my dream...
* "I honor the Spirit in you which is also in me." * "I honor the place in you in which the entire Universe dwells, I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Integrity, of Wisdom and of Peace, When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are One." * "I salute the God within you." * "I recognize that we are all equal." * "The entire universe resides within you." * "The divine peace in me greets the divine peace in you." * "That which is of the Divine in me greets that which is of the Divine in you." * "The Divinity within me perceives and adores the Divinity within you."
