i've recently come to the conclusion that i have a lot of things i want to do in life. places i need to see, things I want to accomplish. And i realized that i will never get these things done if i'm in a serious relationship.

same here. my traditional side tells me to get married and have kids, but my basic male instincts tell me that marriage is for suckers...

Marriage is only for suckers if your looking for it, and or your with the wrong person but when you find the right person then it wont seem so lame afterall. I don't know, maybe that's just me being a female lol.

I don't like marriage.
It doesn't seem to work out for the average humanoid.
But maybe you're not average.

Marriage in itself is not a bad thing. The problem is that many people get married to the wrong people and for the wrong reasons. People think marriage will improve their relationship, or bring a new dimension to their life together.
Marriage should be something you do because you love each other and know you will be together until one of you dies. And even then it is just something to show the world you are together. At the moment you marry, marriage should no longer be necessary to prove to your other half that you love them.

The natural thing for a man to do is probably to impregnate as many women as possible.

The only problem I have with marriage is that it costs a shit-tonne of money.
If I could just buy her a ring and fill out some online application, tick the box 'I do', I would do it tomorrow. I really don't want to spend many thousands of pounds on a wedding. Especially a church wedding since we're both more-or-less atheist. I don't even get how it all works. You buy the engagement ring right, which is the expensive one, then the wedding ring is a less expensive band? And she still keeps the engagement ring? Does she wear it? I could commit my heart to her more comfortably without a vicar and multiple family members leering over us. And wedding discos? Drum n bass please!
Like I said, buy a ring, tick a box.

You can get married with no money whatsoever. You just won't have a legal contract. But if the marriage is sacred between the two of you, then no legal contract will ever be needed.

Yea, my wife and I went to the Justice of the Peace and said our "I do's" for $35.
Marriage is only as expensive as you want it to be.
