update just goto irc.shroomery.org port 9999 for ssl #hunting its not as convenient or on the go as forums though
Alright Ythan heres the deal... Hunting forum people like to talk with other hunting people...
Except we cant socialize without a thread being locked or our posts being deleted... If its 'off topic' ittle get locked immediately if i say "yeah man the weather has been great" my post gets deleted because im discussing weather..
Hunting people are a kind of their own and they tend to post in hunting more than the other sections and hunting only (for the majority of posts at least), and if they make a post about say JUST fishing or JUST pictures they took that were non hunting related while hunting (ex: no mushrooms but a picture of a bird) they get deleted... Hunting people are outdoorsy people, we cant post in OTD or the Pube those aren't exactly 'our' people and we would get flamed (plus none of the other hunting people would see the thread) for posting there.
Now people have said "But noobs will come in and start making all these posts and it will get out of hand" well there could be a time limit on the forum or a post limit of 100-400 posts minimum... The regulars know how to keep it cool and don't ask "Is the weather good for shroomz duuude?!" "What mushrooms grow in my area?!" and those types of questions so i dont believe a social sub forum on hunting would be that bad.
I know sub forums don't get made all the time, but please consider the situation and please consider mushroom hunting people are a kind of their own and they need a spot to socialize and not get their threads locked or posts deleted..
Now ythan, dont be too harsh on me i know the chances of you making a sub forum for socializing hunters is about one in a billion, but a number of people have complained and a few threads have been created discussing this topic so i figured ide ask -=/
Alright danke homie
Man love 4 you

yeah I totally agree, I've seen it many time's when people post mysterious creatures looking for ID'ing, rather then mushrooms, which is heavily criticized but usually gets a good ID or someone knows something usefull about it. Rather then posting in the pub or OTD, where we all know will get answer as well as asking the pope to explain evolution. I don't what we'd call it, maybe even just Off-Topic discussion as a sub forum to hunting. Which could combine weather discussion, aswell as people seeking to ID mysterious animals.
cheers ~

We could have a Hunting (id and mushroom talk) forum and a Hunting (discussion about all aspects of hunting) forum.
We need a place for those "You know you have been hunting too long when.." threads

good to see you actually did something about it. oh wait, you just kept whining while adrug set it up for you, nice .
For wildlife ID's, random outdoor pics, weather discussion and such there is always The Great Outdoors forum.
Anywho, good luck with the chan. I hope it resolves the issues you have with the hunting forum. I would argue that IRC is more convenient and on the go than message boards, especially for people there to 'chat' or 'socialize' as you put it. maybe I'll stop in sometime and check it out...

Well you make a good case , I'll add it if there's demand so let's hear from some other users and mods of the hunting forum. In the meantime I added #hunting to the forum list.

Oh wait as long as implee gets rid of the cow nuts for his avatar. They really distrub me. I mean I do go into the otd often and I like some sick disgusting stuff as much as the next person, it just gets old seeing it when I am not in the otd. The cow nuts really bother me. Oh well enough of my whining,

And it wasnt a channel i was asking for. Ill join the channel and be apart of the community but a channel is a little TOO intimate and isnt logged/archived for referencing in the future (it can be but its a little too intimate like i said, some of these things shouldn't be logged)
Plus the great outdoors is only for out door type shit, believe it or not hunters also talk about mycology that isnt outdoor related, plus they enjoy things that arent just involving the great out doors.
Having an archive of threadsis nice plus hunters tend to stick together as far as conversations go. Did you not read anything i wrote?
Also stop taking it in the ass

I love you too, troll
don't you have some new posters to flame?
I like how you dish it out and can't take a little shit back, it's funny. Anyway, I was just giving you a hard time, chill the fuck out, or don't.

Nope no one is breaking the rules as of right now. And ive been being nicer to noobs
Plus i thought of a new point only a hand full of people go out of their way to IRC(5 as of right now) compared to the hundreds of people who will be on the forums.. Plus the web is everywhere, buggy java chats arent for everyone (via web) and downloading an irc client isnt for everyone.
so as of right now i dont believe the irc channel will be stimulating as much talk as a sub forum would... Plus i have a feeling being on shroomery irc there will be noobs logging in asking where mushrooms grow in their area (apposed to a sub forum with rules plus 100-200 posts minimum) all the time...

you know, their is an ignore button for a reason.... USE IT if you bother each other so much instead of flooding posts with flames.

you have a few minutes after you post where you can edit and choose to have the post not marked as edited.
I use this alot because it takes me a while to put my thoughts into words and I'm not so much editing as filling out the things I say. I'm also rarely happy with how things I write are phrased. sorry it bothers you, it sucks for me too.

When I was 19, I did a guy in Laos with a rifle shot at a thousand yards in high wind. Maybe eight or even ten guys in the world could have made that shot. It's the only thing I was ever good at... Well, see you tomorrow.
