I have seen a similar cactus like that before when LOOKING for San Pedro......
San pedro seems to be a bit more rounded.... i think it has 8 (im not sure) little indents.....
anyway... doesnt mescaline glow under black light? maybe thatd be an easy way to identify
I'm no expert, i would like to hear easy ways to identify san pedro

I think it should be more rounded too, what do you say Land_Crab? your is more rounded?, the principal reason because I believe this is San Pedro`s is because I live in Paraguay, near Bolivia, and in all this region is very common that cactus, right? look at this pictures, it may help.
P.D.: I will try under black light, it shoult glow, right?

I have what was sold to me as san pedro but the spines are like two inches long. I didn't know they were usually non existent or small.

That is definitely NOT a san pedro aka Trichocereus pachanoi, What you would have there is a Cereus of some type, maybe peruvianus. About all you will get from that plant is indigestion.

I'd suggest doing a bit of reading at www.erowid.org, plenty of information there to pick through. Or doing a search on the shroomery for "pedro preparation" has a few results also.
Good luck with your search for proper Pedro.

^Nomis sounds like he knows about these cacti. I apologize if I gave any misinformation; it just looks very similar to my San Pedro (which has thicker leaves like in Nomis' pics) but not identical. The last thing I want to do is give someone bad advice.

Many cacti look similar, but that looks more like a Peruvian apple cactus (Cereus repandus) than a San Pedro.

hey ombo, go to 'the ethnobotanical garden' you will learn a lot about cacti there
-------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Until the 20th century, reality was everything humans could touch, smell, see, and hear. Since the initial publication of the charged electromagnetic spectrum, humans learned that what they can touch, smell, see, and hear... is less than one millionth of reality. --------------------------------
