instant potatoes in an LC?

I have searched-seems I always have to say that anymore before I ask a question. Anyone have a LC tek using instant potatoes? I see alot of potato broths, and some talk about instant potatoes but no actual tek. Thinking of? Honey and instant potatoes, but unsure of a good ratio. If I used honey as the sugar source should I stick with 4% if I plan on adding some instant potato flakes(and how much instant potato flakes?)---My thoughts are 500cc H2O, 2%honey, 5 teaspoon potato flakes? That is a total guesstimate, I actually have no clue. Can anyone set me in the right direction?

I just boil potatoes in water then drain, add honey and sterilize the solution. The flakes can screw things up and the honey can contam the flakes really easy.

So you're using a potato broth? Have you ever used flakes? And what ratio of honey are you using in the broth?

not much honey just like a teaspoon at the most per 2 cups. I used flakes once but the mycelium didnt isolate or colonize as fast.

hey i am wondering the same thing right now myself... i wanna try to do a potato broth... i read just to dice a potato up without skinning it and boil until the potato's are cooked and then strain through filters to catch particals... question though... with potato broth do you use the same ratio of say 1 packet of sugar in the raw to 220cc of water? or cause with the broth ratios are different??

Someone has to have a sugar % they use for potato broth. I can't imagine using 4% sugar(honey in my case) to mix into a potato broth(since there is already a starch/sugar present). But again I'm looking for a potato flake LC. I have terrible -obsessive compulsive disorder- I'm looking forward to doing this tonight, but I don't want to fuck up the last couple ccs of the spore syringe I have.

Yeah, I may try it some day, but I don't have a grocery store that carries "agar" or even has an "asian" section. I live a country town, I can get all the straw and Hpoo I want all year round, heck, I can even go down to the farm store and buy 1.5inch needles and 60cc syringes by the bags full. Guess there's pros and cons to anywhere one lives. Again, anyone on potato flakes LC. Or what about a % of sugar(honey in my case, or Karo) for a potato broth?

why make an LC harder to do? Just use some honey or corn syrup and that will give you A+ results. My LC's are made with just a 1:20 solution of corn syrup and water are usually ready about a week after inoculating.

ShroomJew-I'm right across the lake, Michigan. I'd be glad to make a trade for some of my composted Hpoo, I've spent alot of time and effort making the compost just right for a mushroom substrate. PM me.----------My honey tek LCs do work well, but I know (from spending time on this forum) honey is lacking. There needs to be a complex carb. in the mix. I have quite a few honey tek LCs in the fridge right now, I just want to take another step. I learn a little bit more each time I try something new. I just want to try it.
