Proper disposal of contaminated jars (No PC)
    #7907969 - 01/20/08 11:37 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

My friend has two contaminated jars, one looks like bacillus and the other like trichoderma. He doesn't have a pressure cooker available and would like to know the best way to dispose of these (jars don't need to be kept). Any information would be helpful.

If the jars don't need to be kept then just throw them in the garbage and take your garbage outside. If you want to be extra careful than just put your jars in a ziploc before hand.

Don't open them up if you don't plan on keeping the jars, no point in chancing it.

If you decide you want to save the glass jars, simply boil for an hour or two before dumping out the contents. That should take care of the spores.
