Newb going straight to Rye Grain?

So, for the last 3 weeks I have been reading about just about EVERYTHING before making any sort of moves towards my first grow. Yesterday a ordered my Ecuador spores so things are coming together.
Now, I've been doing a lot of thinking about how I'm going to do this. I initially was planning on starting with BRF cakes but the more I read the more confident I feel about going straight to Rye grain.
I'd use a rye grain with verm/coco coir casing. I have a pressure cooker so thats not a problem. The main source of failure I see with grain is loading it too wet. My real question for you experienced types is whether this is a good idea or not? Does it take experience that you just don't have as a beginner or is it simply a lot of steps and knowledge that you need?
As a person, I am known for being very meticulous and a perfectionist. I feel these traits might help me succeed with this. I would follow this tek http://www.shroomery.org/8432/From-syringe-to-print-using-rye
So to put it concisely, is rye all that hard as long as you've done your research and follow instructions to a T? And if I do go ahead with this what do I need to be cautious / watch for?
Any advise is appreciated

Rye isn't hard, but most of us had to screw up a few batches to learn to get the moisture just right. The important thing is if it's too wet after sterilization, don't waste your spores. Simply start a fresh batch.
The rye should be about twice the original size it was when dry, and it should be fully dry on the outside when you load the jars. Make sure the only moisture in the grains is IN the grains, not on the surface. At that point, load your jars. Inoculate under sterile conditions. RR

Wow, I'm honered by your post. Thanks for the advise.
But, any advise on how to access if it's too wet after sterilization through the glass? Surely you don't want me to open it up right?

I think he answered that when he said if you can see water on the outside of the grain against the jar after PCing then its still to wet.

Well, Unless I'm very much mistaken, that wasn't said in his post. But I suppose I should have inferred as much.

After sterilization, you might see a small amount of condensation, which is a function of temperature differential, not moisture. The grains will be damp, but not wet. If they're wet, or especially if you see any water pooling in the bottom of the jar, don't use it and start over.

Grain is great and it's not hard to work with, if you have any doubts just read acouple teks on getting the proper water content and you'll do great.

my first grow i planned on fruiting the brf cakes directly, but then decided to spawn to coir and case. moved on to grains and as long as u can read and follow a tek, u should be fine. just make sure ur grains arent too wet. i use WBS and test moisture using this tek. i dont know if it works for rye tho

You can test for proper hydration of rye by placing a small spoonful of rye berries on a square of toilet paper. After 15 seconds, shake off or remove the rye grains. If there are any wet spots left on the toilet paper, your grains are too wet. A couple grains can remain clinging to the toilet paper, but there should be no signs of moisture or wetness on the TP. On a visual inspection, there should also be no sign of wetness on the outside of your rye grains -- all the water should be inside the grains, not on the surface of them.
^^ That's what RR recommends and it works.

Good luck!
I did the same thing - studied my ass off, reading every single guide, tek, and post on the forums. Only my Pf Cakes never spawned a single mushroom so far. Although now that I have worked with Pf and grains, I find Rye to work much easier, and the process is a LOT faster. So I say "Go for it!", just make sure you follow that tek by Magdesh to the "t" brother.
