Texas / Cambodian "bulk" - PICS [Update 04.01.08]

Aloha everyone,
I completed this grow log a few days ago in the Grow log section of this site, but since many people can't enter it, due to a lack of posts, I thought it might be fun, to post it here as well. [NOT THE WAY TO DO IT, FOLKS!]
I'll just post the original text etc. ...Damn, I thought I could just copy the pics, but I can't Anyway...
"On November the 11th I inoculated five jars, 3 with Texas spores and 3 withe Cambodian spores.
About two weeks later I spawned the two Cambodian cakes with a layer of Coir/Verm (50/50)and a some coffee grounds. I also spawned the 3 Texas jars. One two cake tray and one time single cake tray. The layer was the same.
I birthed them on Christmas...
29.12.07
Here's the Cambodian progress:
Day before fruiting
Day of fruiting
Three days later
Same day. Knots begin to form...
Today. Many knots already began to develop to pins. There's like a billion of them
The Single Cake Texas casing, which developed the best yet...
Day before fruiting
Day of fruiting
3 Days later pins begin to show up
And today. Not many pins but at least healthy looking
The two cake Texas trays one day before fruiting. I patched the big myc spots, so no overlay could develop.
Patched casing. Day of fruiting.
3 Days later
Today. Unfortunately the it got a little dry and started bluing
Even more fucked up is the fact, that due to the drying the substrate shrinked a little and now side pinning has set in [Not only cause by the drying, but also because the mycelium consumed the substrate]
And here's the three of them again on the day of fruiting
30.12.07
Due to the TREMENDOUS amount of responds to this thread I decided to update it again And only therefore...
Anyway, the trys have developed fast but, though not very good. except for the Cambodians but see for yourselves:
The single cake Texas Tray:
The poor two cake Texas tray, that keeps developing side-pins:
SLOOOOWlY surface pinning begins:
And the Cambo tray that goes very well and developed an ass load of pins:
31.12.07
Next Update:
The Texas Cubes have form to some very beautiful mushrooms (at least I think so) Neither Many, nor big. But beautiful
And the Cambos that need few more days:
03.01.08
Alright, here are the most of the final pics of the first flush. The pics of the Two-Cake Texas tray will follow tomorrow (didn't have any more upload capacity )
Anyway, here are the One-Cake Texas pics:
01.01.08:
And here are the Cambos. 01.01.08 Morning:
In the Evening:
02.01.08 Morning:
In the evening right before harvest:
And the Harvest of the Cambo tray. All in all 128 Gr.
Although I was a little afraid that the casings wouldn't turn out to be any good, I'm quiet satisfied Especially with the Cambodians "
VERY soon the final pics of the two-cake Texas tray will follow!
Well, as already said, here are the last pics of the first flush...
Very Texas like

Damn, I really awaited the second flush of these things but what I got yet was just poor. I patched the one cake Texas and Cambodian trays and thoroughly misted the two cake (birthed) Texas tray. I also dunked the one cake Texas tray before patching. Damn, that all sounds pretty weird
Anyway, I only had very few pins on the one cake Texas tray, that only grew very small (half the size of the first flush). The Combo tray also only shows very few, quiet small pins. The unpatched but misted Two cake Texas try show only ONE pin
What exactly have I done wrong??

Hmm.. with my cakes when i just put them in by themselves they seem to do the same. Only grow like one shroom. However, it seems that if you not only dunk the cakes but cover them in verm they get a better yield. With the casing it may have just been that the casing layer was too thick. Thats what it sounds like to me anyways.

Dunking the casings after the first flush would have greatly increased the second flush's yield. Especially the Cambo casing. It lost a lot of water producing that first flush.

You're right that does sound pretty weird.. lol
After your first flush, your cakes could have gone for a 12-24 hour dunk. Then another option is to let the cakes dry for a week before placing cakes back to fruiting conditions to even further increase your yields. I am not entirely sure I am 100% correct on my second point of advice. I think I have read this or I am pretty sure that I have somewhere, and would like to know more.

What is it today, that makes people dig out vintage threads?

It's been happening all weekend. With old posts by agar and citric popping up. There has been alot of talk of CRS over the weekend so I bumped RR's "the return of the columbian red spore" and two other posts by him concerning the subject of snake venom in the advanced mycology forums. I ran across this old thread and enough said.
Look at you back in the day all not knowing what to do, cussing up a storm. I thought, Awe, look at Fahkface when he was a noob.

Fahkface said: I wasn't really a noob back then. And that's the poor part about it. I did an ass load of grows before this post, but I wasn't really paying attention to what I did. Well, that changed. People get older and sometimes even learn
Anyway, we should stick to "bump" old threads, when it seems to be worth it. This isn't the case with this one, IMO.
And yes: It's a little embarrassing
Awe shucks. I did not mean to embarrass you. Don't sweat it. I embarrass my self everytime I open my mouth. I do it for the information I guess. or I'm just stupid. lol I am still unclear about if drying for a week after the first flush dunk is a true statement or not?.
Please don't close this thread, professor Fahk!

In most cases, the second flush would appear within this week, so what you would do with waiting a week is to slow things down.
You can dunk right away, let it drain very well and provide plenty of FAE so the excess water can evaporate.
Anyway, when this thread should stay open, I'll modify the wrongly used terms in it, so no confusion about them breaks out.

Are you able to modify the categories for the pics and grow logs forum? It still uses old terminology; everything that isn't a cake is a 'casing'.
