got about 40lbs from a local stable about 4 days ago... placed it in black trashbags... they were relatively dried out when i got it, and the person i got it from referred to it as "composted horse manure"

i am wondering if:

1. i should remove all twigs/straw pieces and shred it to a finer consistency

2. placing it in the bags for a few days with (with no ventilation inside) was detrimental

take a look at the pics and let me know if you think its safe to use or not... thanks!

oh, also wondering if i should further dry it out before pasturization, its currently below field consistency but still has a tiny bit of moisture
