I saved this tissue from this petri dish after my failed attempt at replacing agar agar with the pink fruit pectin in a PDY agar recipe. Don't do it the pectin will liquify; and, once this happened I asked what I should do to save it and fastfred suggested that I just treat it as a LC since it essentially already was. So that's what I did.
Here's the sample on "agar"
and here it is now in a LC
It looks cloudy in this picture because i had just stirred it up. Usually there is a crystal clear layer of water between the floating agar tissue and a milky pool of mycelium that is raining down from the above tissue.
Now then. Oat jars. I made up some steel cut oats again because my previous experiment seems to be really working out. I used 1lb 8oz of Steel Cut oats, that's 24Oz total, with the coffee grounds from the pot I had on, and three spoons of whole flax seed.
First I rinsed the oats. And rinsed again. Then I put it all on the stove for about 10-20 minutes not allowing it to boil until the very end. I rinsed it again several times after the simmer, let drain and mixed put it back into the pot. I only needed about 3/4 Cup of Verm added to it and then loaded into 7 half pints and a single 1 pint. There was a bit left over that didn't get used.
After they cooled I shoot 1/2 up with mazapatec that was from the saved agar dish and the other 1/2 with r44 from a fellow member.
24 hours later all the mazapatec show signs of growth. I know it would seem logical that's contaminated but I must say that after today it appears to be regular mycelium growth.
Pictures taken yesterday 24 after shot up.
Notice to the right of the blinding flash on the jar. Tell tale white spot.
Two Oat jars w/LC used. Hope the spots are clear.
I've got the mean green before, and it appeared one day and would be like 3 x larger w/in 24 hours. That's happened every time I've been hit with it and didn't in this case. It doesn't appear to be contaminated presently, rather, it looks just like it should so far.
Thoughts??

wow I thought I would get at least one or two comments. Oh well.
Does this happen a lot? Getting jars with growth after 24 hours? No thoughts? Questions? Comments?

With living tissue, yes, 24 hour growth is normal for most.

Why you put inside of the LC?...
It doesn't oxidate?

Because My "Agar" dish turned into a liquid when the Mycelium started eating it. It was already swimming around in a petri dish - this way I can access it via Syringe through a self healing port without having to submit it to open air each time. It sitting in a liquid after all.
Oh and the jar also has a filtered hole for gas exchange. Hopefully the LC isn't contaminated - but I'll know soon enough.
