electricians! Humidity switch circuit?

Hey all , I want to put together a simple humidity switch circuit. I'm good with basic electronics and can put together simple circuits , but thats about as deep into it as I get. Just wondering if there are any electrically inclined personnel out there willing to show me the structure of a circuit such as I ask. I have oodles of parts lying around including a few RH sensors and what not , so I think I have what it takes ... well besides the schematic. ha ha well hope someone can help.
Thanks in advance.

What kind of sensors you got? Depending on how much you know about microcontroller programming I would go that route. I'v been meaning to make a temperaure/RH switch. This could be done very cheaply and reproduced easily.
Check it out: http://www.arduino.cc/

Post the part numbers of the RH sensors you have and I can come up with something simple but it'll just be on/off above/below a certain input level, nothing fancy.

Hmm well ok i have a few sensors, all of which look like the white ones in the photo. Only one sensor i can see has a number it says 73 and looks like the middle one in the picture.
*edit
to tell you the truth i think it looks more like the ones on this page

That would be really simple to interface to a microcontroller. All you would need is a resistor, microcontroler and a little code. How much are these little units? PM me if you want help designing a RH/temp trigger system, I was planning on making one myself.

A micro is a bit overkill isn't it? Why not just hook up a comparator w/ a changeable POT or something instead? Seems like it would be easier for someone to just hook up and go

Thats true but the thing about a microcontroller is that you can hook it up to a computer to log/output data very easily. Plus I have a lot more experiance with them then the simple circuits you are talking about, weird huh.

well it sounds cool but i have no knowledge in micro controller use. If you can give me a how to or are able to lead me through the implementation of a micro controller, that would be great. I have to admit though it sounds like a bit much trouble , and i imagine that i would have to buy the hardware interface which costs who knows how much. I have lots of little scavenged parts and i think it would probably be quicker and easier for me to just put together a simple circuit.

From looking at the datasheet you linked, I got this "not so user friendly" schematic to convert humidity to a corresponding voltage.
I would suggest either ordering a sensor so you know what you have, or finding out what the specific part number of the sensor you have is. I'm not sure what good an RH sensor is if you don't know the exact part name.
Also, what exactly are you trying to do? Switch something on when it hits a certain RH?

I'll get some temperature/RH sensors and put something together then write up a howto for everyone. Anyone thats had experience with these sensors please chime in and recommend some. Thanks.
