One lone malabar pin. ... help....

First time attempt at some malabars, and I have a coir/coffee casing in a mono-tub. All is going fine, I am about at day 4 of fruiting.
The thing is I have one pin that formed last night. It has a full brown cap showing now, and is about 1/4 inch tall. I have looked the rest of the tub over completely and this is the only pin showing so far.
Should I let it go? Or should I take it down now to ensure a better pinset? I have read a couple of posts in the archives about the same thing, and it was answered pull it to get a better flush. Only thing is that I didnt recognize the person that answered, so I would like to get a second opinion.
Thanks in advance, sorry no pics.

Try cursing at it. That's how I got my shiitake to pin. I say let it go till the cap opens and then pick. At most it'll take some nutrients from that one area. I don't see the harm in letting it go. If there were like 5 and they were spread out and all looking puny I'd say pull all of them early but just one. Why not?

Heh, Malabar was one of the first strains I ever sucesfully grew, ive done quite abit of work with them in the past.
I had the same issues as you, Malabar preform very poorly on pfcakes but thrive off of rye/bulk subs. What did you use to spawn them with?
Heh, I had a tub of Malabar I left in the incubator, came back from visting my girlfriend and the entire casing had canopy'd and they grew big enough to push off the top of the incubator that was latched.... Don't let this run put you off on Malabar man, they are a good strain

This was a rye to coir/coffee spawn cased with about 1 inch of 50/50+ Peat verm lime. I see lots of growth starting to pop out of the casing, but only the one pin. I love how quickly this strain colonizes. I am doing it neck and neck with Pink Buffalo and I am definatly leaning towards the malabars.
Now all I have to do is get this thing to fruit properly. Who knows maybe tomorrow will bring more pins. It was just strange to see only one out of that entire tub.

Sometimes you get 1 that has a head start. More pins should form.
As long as your casing layer is nicely hydrated you will have the moisture to provide a good pinset. As long as its getting good FAE and enough light, more pins should pop up./

Indeed,
Lots more pins popping this morning so I am just going to leave it. There was another small pin attached to the rogue that formed yesterday. I think there was a few more uder my casing that hadnt pushed through yet. I will take my first time lapse pic today, and follow the rest of the harvest.
I will also add that malabar has completely kicked pink buffalo's ass in colonizing speed, and fruiting speed. I will have to compare final yeilds, but so far I am going to be a malabar guy from now on. I have a PESA that I will do a comparision to next with the malabar.
