LBM in horse manure compost and larger in wood chips.
    #7682478 - 11/26/07 04:18 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Found species 1 growing in horse manure compost among my strawberries.
Oarnge cap size of dime with brown stripes. Buff color stalk.

Found species 2 on wood chip compost/mulch here in Hawaii at 1000 ft.
White cap size of golf ball to tennis ball fading to tan-brown in middle. Gills white. Spore print grey to brown or purpleish. White stalk.

Found the largest one on decomposing guava sticks and roots and ohia bark. Thick stalk. Grapefruit sized cap.

Wondering what they are. No spore print from the smaller or largest ones, maybe they were white.

Interesting mushrooms. I was able to see them much better after clicking on the link, but I still don't know what they are.

Nothing active.

I posted them here http://www.flickr.com/groups/askascientist/pool/

This is a Hawaii specific site.

Maybe they'll appear and I'll get some more info about them.

Aloha

The second species looks a lot like a Melanoleuca. Reminds me of this one:
