Over at Bally Total Fitness next to my work. $150 to join, then $61 a month after that. After the 3 year mark it goes down to $9 a month for my membership. I get 4 personal training sessions as well . After that I went over to the mall and got some new gym shoes (the Nike's with the springs on the back) and some gym clothes. My first workout with my personal trainer is tomorrow, after that I can kick off my weightloss plan.
It feels good to put my money toward something worthwhile. I may finally lose these man-boobs

And after a few months, you will realize what i did
a) You can do it all with pushups/pullup/situps
b) diet is EVERYTHING, you can spend 2-3 hours at a gym and not get the same results you can with a 10 minute workout and the right supplements/protein afterwards.
G/L with it though. If i could take peoples money without a concious, i'd definately be a personal trainer.

I like it when I get a boost of motivation and just jump into something. Good feeling. Having a trainer has helped me because you are less likely to put it off because the hassel of rescheduling or leaving them hanging.
Good luck!

Diet is a big part of any expected gains. It's usually the part most people leave out.

Thats good to hear youre taking control of things. I too am trying to exercise more and lifting weights at home. On a serious note..."man boobs" can be caused by smoking pot. No joke. Weed these days is loaded with different chemicals that can wreak havoc on your hormones. I dont know if you smoke or not but since you're on the shroomery there's a chance you might. Anyways, gooood luck man!

Wrong. Majority of the scientific data says otherwise. And it wasn't additives in the plant it was the plant's phytoestrogens

Well, that was quite a workout. I had my first of 4 free personal training sessions and he gave me a good feel for the routine I need to be on. I'm all set to start going in and out at will! I think I'm going to take a before shot .

pushups/pullups/situps are good all around but it can be harder to gain mass if thats what you are going for. to gain mass you need to really strain and stretch out the muscles. doing tons of pushups will get you really tone and thats great if thats all you are trying to do, im just saying sometimes weights are necessary.

$61 a month and that's with a DISCOUNT?
LMAO
fuck a bunch of Bally's. If you ever foresee you need to change banking accounts you're FUCKED. I had to change accounts and since I didn't give them a full 30 day notice my pymt bounced then they sent me DIRECTLY to collections for the FULL $1200 2 year contract. the promptly went out of business in Tulsa 2 months later.
My work has a full sized gym on site that's FREE.
if you really thought you needed a gym membership you should have held out for 6 more weeks. they run the best specials for the New Year's resolutions crowd.

if you're lucky enough to have a YMCA nearby you pay $30 a month for the entire facility. weight room + sauna + swimming pool + hot tubs + treadmills. there are also several programs included such as yoga, aerobic, pilates, etc.
i personally would never pay $60 just for a gym.

I need to do something like that myself, but only if i can afford it. Until then I will just workout at home with my barbell and ride my mountain bike.

just make use of the facilities. shit, if they have a cold bath or even better, a hot bath as well! Do some contrast after your workouts! 1 minute in cold then 2 minutes in hot. Oh, it's a notch above a full body massage. feels amazing afterwards.. gets the blood pumping all over.
but yeah, I mean if you wanted to work out at some shitty gym with all the basics then you could find yourself paying $20 a month, but hey this isn't too bad and I know some people that use the gym as a social setting. so yeah whatever you use it for, make the most of it.

Well since the day I joined I've been in at least 5 days a week doing mostly cardio on the elliptical for 45-50 minutes a day. At first I focused on the time, but now I'm on mileage. I managed to bring my time on the mile down from 13:00 to 8:30, and I'm at 5 miles a day now. I feel great! Even my overall mood is better. I've been eating a LOT healthier as well. I felt kind of guilty for charging all of this to my card but I'm really making great use of it, and it's keeping me busy. If I keep it up I may be able to take my shirt off this summer. I'm 235 (lbs), going on 185
I also managed to stop smoking cigarettes (again), but I always end up with one in my mouth at the bar... Anyway, long story short, those of you who mentioned that eating right and exercises is key to healthy mind and body, you weren't joking!

Grats, and good luck on your new mission.
I had a Bally's membership once... Fucked me over. Wouldn't step foot in a Bally's again. Ever. I work at a pool, so I get all the best cardio I could ever need, plus we have a gym too for dry-land workouts. Free weights, machines, treadmills, elliptical, swim bench... Good shit.
Anyways, stick to it, don't give up! Work hard!
