Writer's Strike in LA

I'm all for it. Writers get paid dick compared to actors.
Brad Pitt, for instance got paid 17.5 million for Fight Club.
Chuck Palahniuk, the author of the book, got paid $10,000 for the film rights.
fuck that. Writers should walk the fuck out, and we'll see how funny and compelling the pretty faces of Hollywood are when they don't have writers to put words in their mouths.
-------------------- "America touts itself as the land of the free, but the number one freedom that you and I have is the freedom to enter into a subservient role in the workplace. Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve." - Tom Morello

i dont know how much writers get for working on shows like 6 feet under or OZ but most likely they r not getting what they deserve, hollywood is run by jews and they live to get over on people, writing is difficult, take some $ from these human parrots and give it to the writers

uh yeah, I wasn't trying to start a thread on antisemitism
but I think its real indicative of the American character that the pretty face gets paid 100x more than the person who comes up with the actual substance of a movie or TV show.
I think that lesson applies uniformly to America, that we are a superficial nation who cares more about the surface than the structure.

It makes me sad to see tv shows seasons end, but yes, I am totally for that as a writer who will never make it big in life

it sucks but its reality. nobody would watch a bunch of ugly people on TV saying witty things and having deep-felt dramatic moments.
american viewers watch TV for entertainment with jealousy in their hearts. every girl wants to be a gilmore girl, every wife wants to be a desperate housewife, i personally want to be Dr. House...
without the physical appeal the shows lose so much.
but - you're right, without the content, they'd all suck anyways. i suppose they could just pay hot chicks to just get on TV and not do anything, but then again that's porn.

this is hilarious.. wtf does Judaism have to do with this? You seem at first blush to be a senseless bigot, so please explain with citations if possible what Judaism has to do with this?
Besides, this is capatilism which is a good thing. Writers are probably underpaid, and they're going about things the correct way. Demand what the market will bear

only if you choose to live in LA
if I were an actor and I got paid $17 mil for a role, I would take that money and run. Fuck living in LA. That is the best way to blow a fortune like it was nothing. I'd take that money back to middle America and live like a king. They all have that option.
They choose to live in LA for the social scene, the parties, the notoriety. The up an comings depend on the paparazzi for exposure. Its a symbiotic relationship. So they live in LA, pay $10 mil for a 500 sq ft house and $10 for a cup of coffee.
so stupid. I'd take the millions and go somewhere cheaper. I wouldn't even put the money into a California bank, I'd take it straight out of the LA economy. Fuck being a part of the scene.

Yeah but it takes alot of work to make 17mill a picture. And considering there are a shitload of actors trying to make it big it's not like there isn't competition. Actors pretty much have to do the social scene so they can maintain their image and keeping getting those 17mill dollar roles.

It sure sounded like he was stating whatever ills exist are a result of an inate tendancy of jewish folk. I'd like to see what support he has for this statement.
Besides, there's nothing wrong w/ tring to get the most for your dollar. The writers are doing the right thing by striking. If their as valuable as they claim to be either the studios will have to conceed or hire out and suffer a poor product, and later be forced to rehire.
But I don't see this as an evil of capatilism, I see this as an advantage of capatilism, the writers are free to strike and demand more money... let the market decide what their worth.

i'd rather watch ugly people. it's alot more convincing than some pretty boy having an angst moment. i like movies with ugly people. i like ugly women.
the writers picked a bad time to go on strike. people are moving away from TV and to computer and peer to peer. also, if they go on strike, we can get mexicans to fill their place for half the price.
i wish tv wasnt aimed at the most ignorant group of people. thats why i dont watch it much. it's lousy entertainment. i hope the TV industry collapses, that would be wounderful.
writers can take their skills into many other professions as well. good bye tv, good by actors, hellow rest of world. KILL YOUR TV

they should have pirate TV like in that movie where the kid had a pirate radio station, but not as gay and 80's.

im sure it will work itself out naturally. here is why
computer based entertainment is more interactive, more stimulating, the user picks from millions of choices. it's educational, it's unfiltered, productive, raw, everything we like.
Tv is limited. it's censored. it's edited. and if has fucking commercials. it's fast becomming a vehicle for dvd's, video games, and everything but cable. watching what's put in front of you is a thing of the past we soon will not understand.
TV is allready on it's way out, dude. no need to worry. im sure they will think of a passifying brain wash tool that is computer based. but im sure it will be less effective because i have a mouse! however they may, in the future, regulate it in a way that keeps you going to places they want you to go. one day we may notice web pages vanish. that we are denied access. and so on.
but the beutiful thing about the napster generation is that we are digital pirates. and underground internet will be the cyber punk of the future.
they we can rise and over throw the reptillian illuminati overlords!

they already walked out, it's all the same old shit. Everything that was a comic book or TV show in the 70's is now a movie, they remade the Poseidon Adventure, it sucked the first time around fuck hollywood, fuck a buncha hacks that have no original ideas any more...
anyone that signs a contract to sell their book for $10k when it's to be made into a movie needs to get their head examined, anyway, what's he sold since then and how bad did it suck
