drugs in the ocean?

My friend started to talk to me about this actually, so it isn't my idea originally.
He said something along the lines of, "think about how many drugs there are on land, that grow out of the ground. Now imagine how many there are under the water that we haven't discovered yet."
He didn't say it as if it were fact, but more as a proposal. It struck my interest, and i just read the thing about sea urchin's THC related molecule, and i remembered to make this post.
So does anyone know if there are drugs in the ocean? I mean there has to be. Obviously, there is a lot of poison in the ocean and it's used for defense, but could there be medicinal drugs, or recreation drugs ?
It seems almost impossible that there isn't something you can't get high off of in the whole deep blue. Anyone have knowledge on the subject?

I dunno. I don't like the high of walrus pee. It's got a really salty feel to it, with tusky overtones.
Now whaleshark dung. Thats something i think anyone could get behind. (possible pun?)

Yeah you're right the overtones are too tusky for me too

so is it DMT that the fish has in it? maybe the two were on maoi therapy?
They don't really say what the chemical is, but they did say it lasted for 36 hours for the one guy. So i'm guessing it is something incredible. I wanna get a hold of these fish and do some investigating.

shulgin went into this in one of his books.... its likely that the majority of undiscovered psychadelic drugs that naturally occour are located within our vast oceans.
-------------------- PEACE zippoz "in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption" "People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

for some reason the title of your thread reminded me of "Snakes on a Plane"
not only are they similar in syllabic rhythm
it seems this thread is about as well thought out as that movie.

Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve." - Tom Morello

i was watching discovery last week and some snail that lives at the bottom of the sea contains about 10,000 different chemicals within the "poison" that it injects into its enemies.
one of the chemicals is similar to heroin except 1000 times more potent.

i don't know, assuming naturally occuring hallucingens serve some purpose other than getting us high i don't know if sea life would have good chemicals. just because there aren't alot of mammals underwater, so even if there was stuff that got fish high it might jut fuck us up bad or kill us.
i know who would know though, dolphins (they are mammals). we have to watch those motherfuckers like hawks and find where they keep their stash

Remember all those old traveler's tales about dolphins saving drowning sailors?
They were probably just trying to get them out of the water, scared that they'd steal their drugs.

Well, yeah. You've never heard of a dolphin saving a cop, have you? Maybe this is also why sharks are so aggressive. Fucking addicts.
Anyway, chemicals in the ocean aren't impossible. Sure, you probably wouldn't be able to eat a glimmerfish liver and get high, but I'm sure if a certain chemical could be identified as active, there'd be ways to extract it in its purest form. Druggies are clever like that.
