crumbling colonized poo

can i crumble already colonized poo the same way i would a cake and use it to case in a monotub? i've searched the posts and am probably just not wording it right.

I generally spawn grains to poop, and place in a monotub, if you have already colonized poop, i don't see why it wouldn't work. So long as it's not like right in the middle of fruiting.
