Cultivating immature shrooms found in wild?
    #755269 - 07/18/02 04:30 AM (21 years, 7 months ago)

Hi. I just went picking cubensis mushrooms the other day and found about 7
nice sized shrooms which can be viewed at
http://members.aol.com/shroomery123/shrooms.jpg The caps on the large ones
are about the same diameter as the tomatoes in the picture (approx a 3 or
3.5 inch diameter). Do you think if I took 4 and my 100 lb girlfriend took
3 we would have a nice trip? Also, getting to the reason for this post.
While picking I found tons of immature fruits. One can be viewed at http://members.aol.com/shroomery123/immature.jpg
This is currently the VERY
hot summer here in Alabama and the immature shrooms die too easily in the
heat. I want to dig up some of the manure one morning and take care of the
immature shrooms until they reach maturity. I could put them in flower pots
or something and take them home I suppose. Is this possible, and if so does
anyone know a good method for me to promote further growth?

Thanks in advance!
-Daniel

Are you sure they are cubensis? They stained those paper towels or whatever a blue color right?

They are certainly cubensis. They did bruise and stain blue, and they have the dark ring on the hollow stems.
