i'm trying to make a playlist for my mushie trip this weekend. I'm wondering if anyone here has recomendations for trippy hip hop. None of the mainstream crap plz. I'm talking about groups like atmosphere and deep puddle dynamics. suggestions?

If ya want some more tip hop and downtempo stuff
DJ Shaddow - Entroducing (highly recommended) Boards of Canada - Pretty much anything by them Massive Attack - Mezzanine Esthero - Breath from Another
Get this one track by Smith and Mighty called "Move You Run". It's the shit.

I luvs me some MIA.... too bad she's a commie. Not sure if I'd listen to her stuff while tripping... her and Butthole surfers might freak me out.
Back when I USED to trip... there was nothing better than the ORB. If ya wanna go to wonderland... pick any album.. shit ... you can't go wrong with them.... and maybe the CASCADE album by Future Sound Of London

Please tell me you've heard Shadow's Entroducing. It's hip hop... without the lyrics really. Really atmospheric stuff.
Talk to this one shroomerite.. jewunit... he seems to know his shit when it comes to hop hop.
DELTRON 3030 is a good album too. It's basically Del on vocals with Dan the Automator, Price Paul, and Kid Koala doing the beats takin the persona of a rapper from the year 3030. It's kind of goofy... reminds of of what hip hop would sound like if the Beatles got into it... funny, futuristic, sci fi hip hop.
Oh yea. And try anything from the Label "Ninja tune". It's all sort of in the DJ Shadow, trippy hip hop beats without the vocals kinda category (DJ Vadim, Kid Koala, Amon Tobin, etc). Just do a search for "Ninja Tune" to grab some of their compilations.

i'm very familiar with DJ shadow and his work, and deltron 3030 is an awesome album, a classic. Del is a very underated rapper and dan the automator is one of the best dj's i've heard in a long time-maybe with the acception of Ant

You ever give any Ninja Tune artists a try? That might be up your alley. I'm not one big on lyrics when I used to trip.
I never really keep up with modern hip hop... i just let the really good shit filter through the cracks.. all the good shit ends up in my collection a few years later .... mmmm digable planets

There's also this new genre around called DUBSTEP. It's sort of what hip hop and aphex twin wouls sound like moooshed together. Do a search for a dude called "BoxCutter"... or "Hatcha and Youngsta"

Hmmm... hip-hop I would listen to on a trip:
People Under the Stairs El-P Cannibal Ox Nastradoomus (Nas' vocals over MF Doom's beats) Aesop Rock maybe... not sure Artifacts Tame One's Spazmatic Edan Madlib J Dilla Platinum Pied Pipers RZA - RZA as Bobby Digital in Stereo Talib Kweli and Madlib's Liberation
That's some stuff I have listened to or want to listen to whilst tripping. Check it out and see how you feel about it before throwing it on during a trip.
Oh, and just so you know, Madlib and J Dilla are producers (if you didn't know this already) so don't listen to their CDs and get let down when there's not many or no lyrics at all.

Yes, yes you did. I never said he wasn't worth listening to. In fact, I was more arguing for the sake of argument. Although I still am not as excited about him as most people are.
