Honey LC from spore, Growth in 3 hours!

So today, I got my order of verm and perlite, I don't need the perlite for mushrooms, and not really verm because I'm looking at grain substrate. Anyway...
So around 1:00 or so today, I mixed up 5mL honey with about 100mL water, microwaved for about 2 minutes, it was boiling happily. I saw little honey-colored specks on the side of the container, so I wiped most of them off. I think those are just impurities in the honey (protein?, wax?)
I was smart enough to buy not only one, but 2 syringes, and long story short, I shot about 4-5 CC into the honey mix (after cooling).
I could see lots of spore clumps, and I am keeping it in a small container INSIDE my computer case.
The computer keeps it a little above RT (it's not too toasty in there), and I have plenty of room. So right about now at 4:00, I open the container up to have a little peek, and expecting nothing, I was happily surprised!
It looks like 50% of the spores have been turned into floating snowflakes! I'm very pleased to see such quick growth, and I'll let you all know how this turns out.
Maybe pics... maybe.

thats not growth. the honey likely carmalized and is sticking together in clumps. start over, but this time boil your LC

As I expected, this POS digital camera didn't get it, but if you look closely you can see spores on the bottom, along with slightly larger than spore white flecks floating around. I dont think I cooked the sugars to carmalization. These are very white. I check back tomorrow or on monday...

Within a few hours, you can see spores germinating on a microscope slide, but not with the naked eye. You're seeing something else. I've never even seen mold germinate that fast. RR

Cool, i wanna buy a microscope now, though if they germniated while studying threw a scope, they would then be illegal!

I didn't buy any Psilocybin containing mushrooms, this is an edible species!
Anyway, showed to the girl a few hours ago, she with her limited mycology exp agrees with me. Now checking 10 hours after innoc I get:
Blurry w/ Flash
Blurry w/ Out Flash
Both are terrible. Blame the damn autofocus. I know it may look like bad blotches but I assure you, they are pure white!

Did you use organic honey?

I used El Cheapo America's choice (some store brand) Grade A clover honey.
I had the choice between that and some other store brand. As for other honeys, I know there is a very dark, very strong smelling honey. I THINK it's buckwheat. I wouldn't use that because I think it's very different from clover honey.
As for organic, no, I don't believe it is. Wiki Sez:
Certified Organic Honey, according to the USDA, organic honey is quite rare to find due to the fact that most beekeepers "routinely use sulfa compounds and antibiotics to control bee diseases, carbolic acid to remove honey from the hive and calcium cyanide to kill colonies before extracting the honey, not to mention that conventional honeybees gather nectar from plants that have been sprayed with pesticides."
These chemicals are harmful to bacteria I suppose, but to mycelium?
--- EDIT
Speaking of harmful, I was reading up on honey on the web, and it's pretty acidic: 3.2-4.5pH. Apparently, that is acidic enough to prevent the growth of many bacteria. I know that when used as a LC medium, it is diluted many many times, so the pH is barely as acidic but...
http://bio.waikato.ac.nz/honey/honey_intro.shtml
Interesting snippets:
- The major antibacterial activity in honey has been found to be due to hydrogen peroxide produced enzymatically in the honey.
- The hydrogen peroxide and acidity produced by the reaction:
glucose + H2O+ O2 --> laconic acid + H2O2
serve to preserve the honey.
- The enzyme has been found to be practically inactive in full-strength honey, it giving rise to hydrogen peroxide only when the honey is diluted.
So add water (raising pH), and that activates an enzyme which produces H2O2
I wonder if the enzyme would be destroyed by sterilization

Ive seen noticable growth in 8 hours, I inoculated a jar of 475ml water to two tbs of dextrose, filtered six times through triple coffee filters and pc'd...
There was still some small but hardly noticable particles in the LC nothing major, 8 hours later i could see mycellium shooting out of a few spore clumps.... LC's are impressive indeed.
I should also add honey makes thee worst nutrient for a LC EVER! it works but then you have to deal with the fact that no matter what you do it is bound to carmailize during the PC, it's best to do a fractional sterilization of the liquids in a pot of water so you can keep a eye on it but its not the type of nutrient media to use in a pc at all, but hey thats just my opinion im sure others have had great success with it.

I just read a quick summary of fractional sterilization, and that's way too much trouble to get honey sterile without caramelization.
I'd use agar if I knew my groc store/health store had it (we have a really shitty drug store/health store/food mart bullshit. And I'd prefer that over dextrose.
I don't want to spread bad practice, but I don't sterilize for very long because my house is already extremely sterile. I could leave bread out for a week and not see any mold (truth!!). I know that's not a very scientific test though >.>
Anyway, I dont have a PC. I have a PC, but not a Pressure Cooker
NO ROOM!
