Who's into car audio?

I've got a question for you. In my old car I had aftermarket speakers that were powered by my Pioneer head unit and a sub powered by a Precision Power amp at 200w with a 1-farad cap. I know the cap is overkill, but I got it as a gift.
So in my new car I will be running two amps. My old PP and a new Pioneer for the speakers. My question is should the cap be used for only one amp, or is it possible to hook it up to the distribution block to feed both? I'll be using the low-pass filters so no bass goes to the speakers, so I'm not sure if there will be as much on-demand power needed for them that would warrant a cap.

Use the capacitor on the woofer amplifier only, or just give it away. I find them totally unecessary, but then I'm no SPL competitor, I just like great sound at tolerable levels.

Yeah, the only reason I wanted one in the first place was because the lights dimmed like crazy on my last car, even with the bass at half power. I could get away with a half-farad for the sub seeing as how it's only 200w RMS. Maybe I'll try and trade somebody for it. My new car is a hatchback so it will still be extremely loud.
Thanks for the input

Use the capacitor, because it will save you headaches down the road with your battery and alternator. Capacitors are never overkill.

A cap is needed when You hit 1000w I would say.

I said overkill because I don't think I need a full farad cap for such a small draw. I'm definitely keeping a cap in the mix but I may drop it to a half farad.

Just use it. You may end of getting into the groove of car audio......you may need it later.

Hook the cap up in series as close as you can (reasonably) to your subwoofer amplifier. The component amp won't load your system down enough to actually drop your voltage, so the cap isn't needed there.
I wouldn't sell the cap unless you could get more than ~$50 for it. I find that it helps with the bass being less muddy on kicks (when powered by an underpowered alternator), as well as helping a bit with the dimming. But yes, for long droning bass, a cap is useless for helping both the sound and the headlight problem.

i once hitched a ride in some crazy fuck's car. it was stripped down, he had a lcd screen next to the drive shaft, there was a keyboard on his lap and a mouse where the handbrake should have been... the dude said he almost got into the Guinness book of records with that car, as it had the most powerful car speakers or whatever. the price of the car had been a fraction of the cost of the speaker system. the back half of his car was filled with a big black speaker box, dozens of smaller ones ran everywhere through the car... he said that if he would roll the windows up and put some bass on even on half capacity the blast would blow the windows straight out. then he put on "final destination 2" on the pc in his car and turned the volume up.
it was a nightmare ride, if anyone's seen the movie there's a part where there's a big collision on the highway & people get totalled by car accidents. well that part was playing while we were in city traffic during the end of the day, lanes were full, the dude was talking to his cellphone and driving with one hand, sometimes releasing the wheel to tune winamp settings for the movie.
the sound of people yelling in horror & crashing cars and the way he drove that shitbox car made my legs shake, once i got out i was still shaking, it was intense.

Looks sweet. I prefer the Premiers but didn't have the dough to drop on one this time around. What's special about that one?
