Hmmmm. I wonder how that will effect the outcome of this grow. I have heard that some of the nutrients are left in the water, the reason people save the hpoo water. I just discarded that water too. I dont have any real need for it at this point anyway.
I just loaded up tub with the poo and rye. It's all mixed up and at a depth of approx. 5 inches. I used 8 quart jars of rye on this one. makes me REALLY wonder what im going to do with all the others. lol. I guess i will be staying busy for a while. I only used 2 of those large bags of poo. so i have enough poo done for another tub like this one. I have all the materials to make another tub too. i've also got plans to get this coir and coffee grow underway. Here's a few pictures.

^I just checked out the above tub and it looks great. It looks like it is coming together just like the little one i did earlier in this thread. Now here's the kicker. I am going to be heading out of town on tuesday and wont be back until Sunday. I am thinking about just dropping the temp down lower to stall the growth a bit while im gone. When i come back it would be ready for casing. I guess i will decide what to do on monday.

more progress than i had anticipated. There sure was a lot of condensation on the plexiglass and on the sides of the tub. i wiped it all down though.

You know, i said SA earlier in this thread, but i really can't be too sure of that. I hope they are sa and not f or b. I have got some agar plates that i am doing to try to isolate a single strain. The spores for that were taken from the largest two mushrooms of the casing picture in the first page of this thread. I had a few bact. contams with that the first time but i was able to use a few of those dishes without further contams. Anyway, once i get that one done perfectly i will fruit it out in one of those large white tubs. (btw, i also have 3 of those large tubs going right now. So in a few weeks we should be rollin in our year's supply of mushies.

OK, i could use some help here i guess. I have this tub ready to case now. Unfortunately, i am on a tight schedule as I have to catch a flight tonight. i wont be back until sunday. so upon seeing the tub in the pics below i have decided to go ahead and case it now rather than wait. good thing i spent alll weekend preparing the casing layer. anyway. I haven't used a cool mist or anything else on this tub, it's just been sitting there. there is a lot of condensation on the very top of the mycelium and im not sure if i should pat it all down with a papertowel to absorb the moisture or just case it with it on there with the thought that the water would be absorbed by the casing layer. Any help would be great. I only have a few hours before i have to catch the flight so i would REALLY appreciate a response.
Thanks!

^You can really see the condensation on this last one.
edit:
I also (obviously) cut the holes too low - or made the spawn too thick. Anyone think i should try and modify these sections before i put the casing layer on this mofo? Im thinking i will need to do something about it. I do like the progress thus far overall. Woot! Happy thanksgiving everyone!!!!!!!!!

you have trouble getting rid of them?
i wouldn't...i'd buy a bunch of tubs for and fill my garage or room with stacked monotubs that would be one insane yield eh? and you can even start an outdoor patch..

I haven't hooked anything up to the pvc hole yet. I was going to use it when fruiting to give it some good fresh air from time to time. I just got back from a trip and it was a cold 68 degrees in there so there was very little growth so far. This week should be different. im going to keep it up to 80 degrees or so in there. This should help. I have 10 cakes that i will dunk and roll after i am done colonizing this tub and trays. I estimate a week to go into fruiting mode.

Not sure if I had mentioned before what it was. I can't even recall any more so i hope i did. lol. I do know that it was two 5 gallon paint strainers full of shit. i put the weight of those bags up here i believe. as for the rye i think i used 9 quart jars. give or take two. obviously i wasn't too concerned with this. it was probably a really low ratio like 3:1 i say this because it colonized so fast.

Firstly, good work so far - nice efforts...may you enjoy the fruits of your labor!
Secondly, a suggestion for fruiting and using a few jars [even if only experimental]:
1) Fill 1 whole monotub with spawn and coir/coffe mix. 2) Invert an empty monotub for the lid like so: ___ /___\ - 'Lid' \___/ - Spawn/Bulk filled tub
You may want to seal the edges of the lid with something to prevent humidity escaping...or just put an even layer of silicone around the edge of the lid-tub and you should be fine.
Anyway, now see how long it fruits! I reckon it'd produce some monsters with that giant myc network, and last for quite a while before the nutrients were used up.
Cheers - boingkster.

^Not a bad idea. That would be fun. You can't really tell how deep it is from these pictures above. Here's one i just took showing the depth.

How would he humidify a kiddie pool when fruiting?
It would be cool to see but a pain in the ass to make it successful.
I guess you could try and create a double kiddie pool tek...

I like 18 gallon sterilite containers because you can stack them. I can fit like at least 12 in my little closet if I really wanted. I put the window on the side, I don't know why everyone puts it on the top.
What ratio of coffee grinds to coir do you use? Do you just mix them together when you add the boiling water like normally?
