I've been lib hunting in sourthern uk for about 9 years now.
Every year I do it and every year I fail. The most I ever found was 15 after 4 hours hunting.
Now even that field fruits nothing as the government sprayed it to kill them off!
I asked all the local old hippies and got a few good tip-offs but still only found 3 in the whole field after days of hunting.
I'm at breaking point now, is anybody willing to share a field with me? Best do it by PM if anybody will as I know its not the kinda info you share...
If this final attempt fails then I'm packing in my lib hunting forever - 9 years and a total of about 30 shrooms, I feel doomed!

Ego Death, asking for specific locations here is against our Mushroom Hunting Forum Rules. And no offense, but making belly-aching posts should be against the rules too. It falls into the catagory of making a whole new topic that just complains your area isn't getting enough rain.. And 30 liberty caps is better than no liberty caps. I am not going to lock this topic out of sympathy. So maybe other people can point you in the right direction and you come back with pictures to share. Good luck.

not trying to be a dick here, as I have absolutely no experience with libs, and probably never will unless I'm on vacation, but...
I honestly think that you are either misinformed about when and where to look, or just not getting out to the patches often enough. If you know of a spot that you've found a few, keep checking back every day until you see a bunch. These things haven't existed on this planet for centuries or millenia and not been prolific.
Either that, or someone is beating you to the punch. You might have a very obsessive hunter nearby who is out every morning at the crack of dawn to steal all the libs in your area.

Well, I spent another 4 days hunting - got very tired from all the hiking up and down hills!
Found a few shrooms but none of them were libs.
We searched another known area where people used to get thousands and stil found nothing.
Then yesterday some 16 year old kiddy rings a friend of mine and says he's got a whole bag of them. My friend got me to have look because he thought this kiddie wouldn't know shit. As soon as I saw them I knew they were libs.
I asked the kid where he got them and he had travelled up country and picked in a well known area for having thouasands.
I advised my friend they were cool and he bought about a hundred. He gave me 20 and ate the rest himself. He tripped pretty good but I didn't even reach threshold effects.
I'm wondering if maybe the are just not coming out down south any more?
Sooo, the endless search continues...

Possibly found a few down here in Hertfordshire, still trying to ID them though, does anyone know anything about small purple mushrooms that grow in woods? They are intriguing me, soon as I get the plug for the digi-cam into the PC i will post pics.
Never seen vivid purple mushrooms before!

Ego Death, the south has gotten bad weather this year, from too hot to too cold in a matter of a few days, but it seems to be picking up now, and im hopeful they will be popping up over the next few weeks until the first really icey weather hits.
Whats your nearest town to where you hunt?
