Tamale dough help please

Do you mix the lard into the masa flour like a dry ingredient, like you do with butter and flour in pastry baking. Or whip the lard full of air, then mix that into the masa flour+water/broth mixture.

I have seen both online, but I dont have any hispanic people that know about this around to ask.

you're supposed to whip the lard until it's fluffy and then slowly mix
that in to the masa mix a bit at a time.

the more you whip the lard, the 'lighter' the finished tamales become.

sorry if this is offtopic but it doesnt deserve a new thread. You can also take that masa flour and just add like for every cup of flour, add like 3/4 cup of water and mix it up, then use a tortilla press and make home made tortillas and throw them in oil and spoon hot oil on top of them to make puffy tacos.. best shit ever.
