what kind of hygrometer did you get... digital ones often poop out at about 70-75% RH and cheap shitty analog ones often come very out of wack without a means to calirate them. you need a decent analog hygrometer that you can calibrate to e sure the reading is right...

that said, how thick is your perlite layer? how big are your holes?

pics of hygrometer, FC and perlite depth might help diagnose your problem.... assuming you followed RR's tek exactly you should be at plenty high enough humidity and it is likely a faulty hygrometer, a very common prolem I've noticed...

I DID get a cheap hygrometer from petsmart... could be my problem. I'll try the hole covering method as well.

I was having that prob with my shotgun fc. I think I may have had too many holes, but looking at RR do his, it didn't look like I had too many. But, I covered every other hole on the sides and top with some micropore tape and it finally came up. Although I did have a shitty hygrometer, it did start raising the RH. I think it's been working pretty good though bc when I take it out of the FC, the RH starts going down, slowly. But i've got some analog hygrometers ordered. So, that should help your problem. good luck
