don't you wish when your tripping so hard that when you figure out all life's questions you could record it so you remember it?

No, because then I would become even more attached to those experiences than I already am.
When you return to those places in mind, you recognize them immediately anyway, and become aware of further developments in consciousness. Then you're dragged kicking and screaming back into this world and learn to flow like water through a cheese grater.

Mos def. I remember I came out of my last experience with ayahuasca feeling like someone tried showing me all the secrets of the universe and I slept thru it. The crummy part is that even if you were to video tape one of your trips it wouldn't show what you're seeing and it wouldn't show all of your crazy and maybe not-so-crazy thought processes. That's why I think it might be good to record yourself during a trip and just blurt out every single thing that comes to mind. It's a shame to think of all the thoughts that enter the human mind only to be lost to the void.
Or are they???

I'm almost thinking there is a reason why we don't remember it

We don't remember it because it doesn't make a damn bit of sense to a sober person. I've tried writing down seemingly 'profound' trip thoughts before, and it sounds like nonsense, or at least not as grand and incredible when sober. You just aren't in the frame of mind to be astonished by it. It isn't so much about the words you think but about the entire context of the experience. Writing things down or videotaping yourself saying things doesn't transmit the experience, only insufficient descriptors. I do remember some things, and those seem to be the things that are relevant to my life.

I usually keep a notepad handy. When tripping I don't really remember everything either, but if you write it down as you go you can get a lot of important things down. What I feel is more important however, is that you feel changed as a person after a trip, like it has changed your spirit for the better, regardless of whether you remember dialog of during the event.
and if you go just one step further and allow the new way you feel as a person to apply into your real life, your daily life, then you are a successful person who has been healed by a hallucinogen.
Congratulations, doesn't it feel great?

I know what ya mean.
I once wrote down, "It brims with universal clevreity!" (??) on a trip, and after I wrote it I was laughing hysterically and generally in awe of how profound it was.
Looking back on it I was like, "Uhh... what the fuck? "

Just be careful about "blurting everything that comes to mind" while you are in this state, and online.... I use pencil and paper while "there", and self-censor those written thoughts for public viewing while NOT "there".... Now, most of it is just written for my own private viewings on occasion.... (I SAID WHAT......?)

I think that recording your dreams would be much more productive.

I usually observe and become aware of a bunch of different questions and answers that I've been thinking about recently. However, I usually pick one to really focus on (or sometimes it's more like the topic picks me). When I come back, I bring back with me a little bit of knowledge of this topic.
You can bring back little bits, but never the whole thing all at once.
Further use of psychedelic drugs, i feel, reveals more and more about a topic, and i bring back more and more.
it's just like learning in an educational establishment. The first time I tried tackling calculus I was kicked around, but with continual proximity to it, I got used to it and got it (for the most part).
But then again, don't lose yr mind and drop six times in a week. balance it out. trip, reflect, think, trip. it's a cycle.

I did once. It was probably the most visual trip I've had. Not sure I would do it again, I felt like I was trying to do two things at once. The trip didn't really suffer though.
