His middle name is actually James, not the lying blowhard.

I thought this was a decent exchange. I agree that Paul wasn't really answering Bill's questions in the first part- rightly or wrongly.

that's because billo' asks loaded questions. which paul replied by telling the truth that most of the foreign insurgents are coming from saudi arabia.

He doesn't want history lessons, he wants 10 second sound bites. Keep it short and simple and Bill can normally follow along.
He also likes a cookie and some milk now and then.

"you're living in a fantasy world" "no, YOU'RE living in a fantasy world..." "NO! YOU are the one living in a fantasy world..."
awesome, just the type of debate you would expect from Bill. Never ceases to impress.

I personally thought Paul was at the worst I have seen him during that interview. Not to say I ever thought highly of O'Reillys demeanor with his guests.
Paul's good for ratings though.
O'Reillys show- Last four Mondays by Households: 9/10 2,308,000 (when paul was on) 9/3 1,434,000 8/27 1,885,000 8/20 2,196,000
The bump wasn't because of the Petraeus interview afterwards which got only 1,451,000
He's come a long way. 2 months ago many of us were bitching that the media was ignoring him. Now, they all want interviews with him and he can't meet the demand.
Seems his debate with Huckabee at the recent NH GOP debate set it off.
Apparently, people liked seeing the candidates debate at a debate. Who knew?
He even got what read to be the first fair and unibaised report on him from ABC yestderday after his Speech on Foriegn Policy at John Hopkins University.

maybe he just realized debating O'Reilly is futile. I assume he went on the show, just so Bill couldn't say he refused.

I think Ron Paul is a hack, that being said he is at the top of the list of republicans I would vote for.
Billo asks loaded questions, makes valid but UNSOUND arguments, straw-mans, and generally sodomizes intelligent debate. All for neo-fascism.
-------------------- The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. ~H. L. Mencken~

I don't think it was to save face. Paul's campaign so far hasn't agreed to CNNs request for a one on one debate with Huckabee. Paul is to humble to care about "saving face". That's what his whole debate with Huck was over.
Paul just seemed tense, tired, irritated in general and let a lot slide he normally wouldn't have. I have easily watched hundreds of hours of his interviews and speeches. That interview wasn't him.
O'Rielly is such an ignoramus.
He said cutting Paul off, " We don't need a history lesson"
If B.O. bothered with historical research before opening his yap, he wouldn't come across looking like an uninformed dumbass.
Had he done his history on Paul, he would have learned that Paul did vote to go in to Afghanistan after Bin laden. When it was reported that Bin Laden fled to Pakistan, and we didn't follow , staying there to nation Build instead, Paul then withdrew his support of keeping troops in Afghanistan. Paul wanted too and still wants to go after Bin Laden.
Oh Well,
Pauls been campaigning hard and is entitled to an off night. I heard he hit it out of the park at John Hopkins speech on Foriegn Policy the next day. Some people at the Ron Paul forums were there and said, it was his best speech ever, he got roaring applause from those guys, took hard questions with ease, and converted a lot of the Universities students to his side.
This is a University that has a teaching emphasis on Intervention type Foreign Policy.
It was encouraging to hear that. When Paul is given the chance to fully address the issue, he garners support for his foriegn policy views pretty easily.
Speaking of Fox news reporting here. Paul made a comment at the last Fox debate about the Saudis having the highest percentage of suicide bombers in Iraq, not the Iranians. Fox cut that part out of it's replay tape.
Fox news. We distort. You conform.
