Probably an inactive Panaeolus, maybe Panaeolus semiovatus var. phalaenarum.

Thats interesting. I have been putting a great deal of time acquiring, translating and reading as many of the Panaeolus papers and monographs I can get my hands on. If you need any help with this confusing genus, let me know. I can also supply some images if needed.

I also just received journal articles on 3 out of the 4 species of Panaeolopsis (one is in French and another just has the Latin description, arghhh!) to help pin down the recent California collections.

I would love to see those Panaeolopsis articles. Would you mind posting or PMing them?

Oh sure. I'll need to pick up a new scanner though. Might take awhile.
