These grow everywhere in my backyard. Damn hard to get rid of. I cut them down every year, yet they come back, as if to spite me.

When I was a little kid I always used to pick the seed pods off and throw them at walls to hear them pop.

That looks like a Passiflora caerulea... perhaps Waterloo Blue variety. This variety produces beautiful flowers with a wonderful smell. Unfortunately I dont think it gives the tasty edible fruits like you get with other passionflower species.

Best fruit are on Passiflora ligularis!

Passionfruit comes from various Passiflora species... but P. caerulea doesn't really make edible fruit. The edible fruits come from various other species like P. ligularis (my favorite, aka granadilla fruit).

You can find P. caerulea (the kind pictured above) real easy. Most nurseries carry the plants for $10-20 and seeds are easy to find. Other passionflower species, including fruit bearing ones, are pretty common as well.

Note that for fruit, you need to have two genetically distinct plants. Most commercially available passionflowers at nurseries are grown as clones... so if you want fruit, either grow them from seed or buy plants from two separate growers so you don't have two clones.
