well with a pc you KNOW it is sterile, no doubt about it.

yes, oven is fine for sterilization of items that do not require moisture and which do not melt.
in other words, aluminum and glass and metal, etc.
afterall, an oven can get far hotter than a pc can.

From here http://textbookofbacteriology.net/control.html
Methods of Sterilization
Heat: most important and widely used. For sterilization always consider type of heat, time of application and temperature to ensure destruction of all microorganisms. Endospores of bacteria are considered the most thermoduric of all cells so their destruction guarantees sterility.
Incineration: burns organisms and physically destroys them. Used for needles , inoculating wires, glassware, etc. and objects not destroyed in the incineration process.
Boiling: 100o for 30 minutes. Kills everything except some endospores (Actually, for the purposes of purifying drinking water 100o for five minutes is probably adequate though there have been some reports that Giardia cysts can survive this process). To kill endospores, and therefore sterilize the solution, very long or intermittent boiling is required.
Autoclaving (steam under pressure or pressure cooker): 121o for 15 minutes (15#/in2 pressure). Good for sterilizing almost anything, but heat-labile substances will be denatured or destroyed.
Dry heat (hot air oven): 160o/2hours or 170o/1hour. Used for glassware, metal, and objects that won't melt.

Personally, I've done nothing more than...
1. clean thoroughly with soap and water. 2. boil for 20-30 minutes 3. profit.
Sterilizing equipment is easiest sterilized in boiling water. Sterilizing food sources (substrates, grains, pf-styled jars.) is a different story altogether and should be done in a PC/autoclave.

once again, boiling it in a pot of water to sterilize the empty jars would be _the_ safest way to go here.

you could put it in the oven, but we're talking about glass and anything outside a 212(F) water bath makes me worried it would shatter.
Even when boiling it, it can shatter. Make sure you start it off in cold water, bring that to a slow boil and then take the pot of the heat and let it cool slowly.
I'm overly paranoid about a shattering glass after I've seen it embedded into cabinets.
