yeah wait a little longer, and maybe patch those mycelium patches that have already come thru the casing.

pop it in the microwave for 4 minutes, two times, let cool and apply. Most people don't like a nutritious casing layer b/c of contams.

Why are you using coir to case that substrate? You cannot use a nutritive casing layer. The mycelia will continue to colonize the coir and render your intent to provide a contaminate/humidity barrier useless. You're also opening up that "casing" layer to contaminates.
At the very least I would cover the entire coir layer with verm or with a non-nutritive casing layer like 50/50+. What does that casing layer consist of?

I do too, but that doesn't mean it's recommended. The reason people started to case with coir is to provide nutrients for the mycelia to penetrate the casing layer in the hopes that this will provide a good pinset. The problem with this is the mycelia will typically colonize the entire casing layer and render its purpose useless. Remember, a fully colonized casing layer is no casing layer at all.
A casing layer should always consist on a non-nutritive formulation and be used for the purpose of providing moisture to carry the first flush and to aid in warding off contaminates; although a colonized substrate has little chance of contaminating when the mycelia have control.
I strongly urge you to do some more research into casing layer recipes, as I have learned the hard way that coir is not friendly for this purpose. You're already into this grow, so monitor this carefully. I still strongly urge you to cover that casing up with some wet vermiculite and start fruiting.

I would go ahead and cover the entire substrate with a thin layer.

Thank you Wronguy for clearing up some misunderstandings I had. Somewhere along the line I came up with the idea that coir was non-nutritious.
