I was surprised to find that bottled water seems to be non-sterile.

I used bottled, micro-filtered water from a plastic container for my syringe, and all my jars contaminated to some degree.

I would recommend sterilizing any water used for substrate or spores. Sterile water is much less important for the dunk tek, if the cake is already 100% colonized.

I use tap water for my PF-tek cakes. The PC always takes care of the contams in it, I believe. Haven't had contams in incubation process since I started the hobby.

Syringe might be a diff story

I use bottled water in jars, casing, perlite, etc...everything, only one contaminated jar ever
