If a dishwasher did hypothetically work it would have some benefits over a PC. For one, its a hell of alot larger.

Realistically though, its probably not capable of steralizing... MAYBE pasturizing but definatly not steralizing.

If your talking about empty jars, yes that will be fine. If your talking about grains or brf, then no, it won't remain hot enough, long enough

alright..cool topic, id often wondered this, due to the 'hobart' we have at work.

if anyones unfamiliar, this is a commercial 'dish washer' pretty much.
it can be hooked up to various chemicals if one so desired to that a continuous solution is supplied to the water reservoir(dilute bleach soak pasteurization anyone?) ..or it can be simply ran without chemicals and only water.

well anyway, these machines get extremely hot, the one at work claims internal temperature is 155 to 165. perfect for pasteurization.

best part? the machine holds that temperature for as long as its turned on and 'warmed up', and teh door is closed.

now only if i could obtain one of these machines for a fraction of what it would cost new. *frown*

just take some jars to work to see, i'm sure noone will ask any questions;)

kidding, kidding

If this worked though, I could finally do like 2 cases of spawn jars at once, instead of taking like a week of PCing everyday. Another PC would probably be a better investment.

ehhh... oh well

Personally, I'm a sterile freak. I usually run a cycle of jars (with some anti-germicide in there) at 150 degrees (cranked up the degrees on the water heater). That however is just a pre-sterilization for me anyways, but I suppose it'll work if you needed JUST the jars sterilized. Good luck!
