I think the human race will “soon” be extinct in body, and im glad
    #7301889 - 08/16/07 06:10 PM (16 years, 7 months ago)

We’ve only been kicking it for 150,000 of our human years but I think we’ve done our bit. The fact that we have almost irreversibly destroyed our only medium of existence, our own planet, planet earth, seems message enough to me that we’ve done our bit. Maybe on this planet in two million years, in a billion trillion million years, or somewhere in between or before/after, a successive life-form will evolve which will surpass our viewpoint on the universe. But maybe not. Maybe we are it for this corner of the universe. However, somewhere - probably, as we would see it “long, long ago” or “as we speak” - another aspect of the universe will contemplate itself in a way far beyond human ken, in a much more realistic way than we ever managed.

When one (I use the first person) attempts, in a simply human way, to align ones-self with the universe, to consider the fact that you tend so close to nothing on the universal scale that you essentially, for all intents and purposes, do not exist, the idea that our race has a very limited life span is easier to bear.

Yet, the fact that I have existed at all is so incredible that Im prepared to revoke all that I have said above. My brief spark of life, in my opinion, justifies every human effort up till now. Same for you, for Auntie Betty, for Uncle Henry in Canada, Starving Marvin in Ethiopia, for some young woman in the peoples republic of the congo who was gang raped by the military three years ago and has only hours to live after contracting AIDS.

Fact is, far from the fact whether I care or not, I have kind of become insensitive - only in a very abstract way, mind, if it was up against me id have the standard human response of empathy and compassion - to human suffering. The fact/figure that projected global warming of our planet will kill 400,000,000 humans by the time Greenland/Antarctica melts, or half of Greenland and/or Antarctica, whatever, that kind of doesn’t affect me anymore. Seeing ourselves for what we are, speaks volumes. Everyone should look at this image. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/skyimage_1962_3569752 Find it on the web in high res. That’s an area of the sky the size of a 20p coin at thirty feet distance. There’s 10,000 galaxies in that tiny area of sky. We are fuck all.

The fact that Bach wrote and heard performed his 5th cello suite, the fact that Van Gough painted a starry night, the fact that Neolithic people erected stones that we observe as Stonehenge: these things Matter with a capital M, and if nothing in the universe ever acknowledges the fact that the human race added to the Universe in such a way, that doesn’t matter either. Our insignificance is so significant that it makes me cry.

And ill never know the most infinitely small amount of what Im trying to talk about.

I don't care about some galaxy far away

'this is my world' as it was given to me, and I'll try to preserve it, if it's the last thing I'll do.

NO way that I'm giving up....

eheh.

What you seem to be confusing and have trouble conceptualizing is the fact that existence has to be meaningful to others. The human body is a lot of chemical reactions which are extremely intricate, detailed, and very synchronized. You probably didn't even know that, unless you took some biology courses (how's that for recognition). We are not to far away from an inanimate object. Purpose happens, if you catch my drift. Everything we do is a reaction to a stimuli; nothing we do is unique from that. We have purposes, and no purpose is greater than another. Our environment creates purpose for us. Follow whatever you believe and live a life you cannot regret. That is the only relevant way to evaluate a person.

"Life flows on within and without you."

One of the lines in a Beatles song. Very psychedelic, something they've shown me quite well. I am so small in comparison to everything else which is going on.

But then again, if everyone took this attitude where would we be at?

Regarding the picture you posted:

"
"

Even if life exists only on one planet in a billion, there would still be billions of planets with life.

The problem is, there is currently no known way of communicating, let alone venturing, to these other planets. The closest planet to us outside of our solar system is still over 10 light years away. 10 years at a speed we theoretically will never come close to reaching.

Nothing we do is even close to being significant. The best part is, even if you managed to do something that would affect the entire universe, would it even matter? Supposedly the universe only started existing some 13.7 billion years ago, what happened before then? If everything reverted to non-existence would anything care?

Ancient wisdom shows us that Humanity , or the human soul configuration has existed way before Earth, and will exist way after Earth.

Its just our current home.

"Supposedly the universe only started existing some 13.7 billion years ago"

that's pure scientific speculation. everything has always existed and always will time is an irrelevant matter, an invention of human kind's consciousness.

That would be the Alpha Centauri system, and its about 4 light years away:

Beautiful words

consider something different.

From Gaia, and only from Gaia, does life exist. When man leaves Gaia he becomes infinitely small, a tiny tiny atom in the lifestuff of the Universe.

But when man is on Gaia, the entire universe, then, is actually simply contained WITHIN Gaia, within the DNA, within the cells of our own bodies.

Consider that what I am saying is not true, rather, what I am conveying, is true.
:yinyang:

Now, any way, I can definitely agree with what you are saying, and feel that out.

Consider that we are a rubber band, incapable of breaking, being pushed to the absolute limits of the spectrum of wrongness, and that we are about to be jettisoned into heaven.
:yinyang:

consider it a duality lesson that when a world is viewed by Trumps rather than Bachs, this will inevitably have to reverse itself, for all things are possible and if all things are possible all things are manifested.

Consider that the consent in WHAT is manifested is held within the scope of human minds and dependent upon what they want to create with these minds.

Consider that the potential minds for complete transformation are already incubating and waiting to be put into play.

Consider this, because, if not, why would we care at all about these efforts, and the arts? and why would we have internet telepathy?

That's not the point. The point is we have no means of traveling anywhere near fast enough or far enough to get where we may want to go. Thanks for that though.

I went ahead and read through that link. It makes no mention of there being any planets existing in that star system. That is, we don't even know that the system contains planets. I would rather just leave this here so I will.
