calibration of pressure cooker gauge
    #728741 - 07/07/02 08:40 AM (21 years, 8 months ago)

just wondering if anyone knows an easy way to calibrate at home (most likely impossible though) in my all american book (copyright 1963.. it's an olden golden cooker and book) it says to take it to the extension office. I just wondered if they still do it considering the times have changed dramatically since 1963. It's the gear driven pressure gauge. Nice one.. haven't used it yet but figured i should get it calibrated before "processing"

thank you

As long as the weight lets out pressure when it gets over 15 psi, you should be okay. Hope this helps.

If you go to your local extention office (college extention, ag extention etc) they still test your canners. Mine charged my $1 to test it this year. Now is the time to do it. Many people are getting ready for the coming harvest =) Sweet corn here I come!!!
