Just as the title says... i ordered premium vermiculite and was wondering if i can use this for PF cakes. What would happen? Would the cakes be better or worse? Can I make the vermiculite smaller by doing something to it? Any and All input is much appreciated.

Premium vermiculite is sterile, inert, pH neutral.
Same crap for your purposes. Assuming it's not coarse.

Premium is marketing's way of saying "I can charge more for this"
I've got some New and Improved Super Duper Perlite I'll sell ya' for $10 an ounce.

i think the vermiculite is coarse. It seems to be larger vermiculite pieces which is y i think its premium. Idk.. I was wondering if i can use this for PF cakes cause the verm seems bigger than what the horticultural stuff is. Is there any way i can do something to make it more horticultural grade verm?

You can blend it or smash it. Either will work. Coarse holds a little less water so the PF formula wouldn't be optimal with coarse.
Here is a comparison for you. Fine vs Coarse. http://www.shroomery.org/5152/Does-fine-vermiculite-hold-more-water-than-coarse
