got some seeds and am curious what people have had the best success with. i was thinking of putting some in a bag with moist vermiculite and letting sprout then transplanting. also putting some in some coco coir in a humidity tent. but i have never grow psychotria from seed, so i would greatly appreciate any tips
edit this is P. carthagensis! not viridis...oops.

could take 6 months to germinate from what I hear. I had some Viridis seeds sprout in a few weeks though. I just planted some Carth seeds the other day though too.

Hi there, P. carthaginensis is actually a very tough plant, resists to colds and heats, unlike its sister Viridis. For germinating the seeds, just plant the whole berries in good (rich) dark soil mix and water once in a while. If they´re fresh they should not take long to start germinating, but with old seeds we have to be more patient - up to 6 months or more can happen. It loves heat and sun, more than any of its sisters.

Wow cool you plant the whole berries? Interesting,I've never tried that; I am wondering at what stage at which to bury the berry at red or black stage or does it matter? Also didn't know carthagensis was more cold tolerant than viridis that's interesting as it may be a better candidate for my local enviorment. You got any info on alba's tolerations. It would be cool to breed a hybrid Psychotria that was potent, cold/heat tolerant and fast growing. thank's Felix!

Hey felix, my carthagensis are starting to sprout now, looks like quite a few. I kept them moist under saran wrap and finally removed it and then just kept it moist by misting it outside here in tx (90-105F) and they are finally sprouting, took about a month and a half, I guess the temps finally got high enough for them to pop. Thanks again man for the seeds.

rich is good? would well composted soil be an idea? i would have thought rich soil would be bad for these, especially if slow at germinating. these are pretty fresh, but not in the berry. And warm temps are good? excellent, is 90+ ok? it is usually above 30 C here during the day and 25+ at night.
should i place them under a couple flouros? or keep them dark?
i would love to hear more about your guys' grow. i will probably start a couple dozen tonight if time allows.
