Grain jars failing and stallin

I had some good jars going I started from syringe inoculation. I waited till about twenty five % colonized and shook.
three jars became saturated with extra water causeing a jelly like film around the grain. I tossed because Myc never showed back up and when you tilted the jar water would seep to one side causeing a puddle this is a sign of excess water right?
The other four did not release extra water. Some have began to slowly regrow and one has not recolonized at all. it has been almost two full weeks since inoculation and it doesn't look promising.
I think next time I will shake when inoculating and just let them go they were going great till i shook them.
Is it ok to shake upon inoculation with syringe and just allow it all to grow? I need some help from you knowledge growers please!!!!!

either your jars were too wet when you loaded them, or you squirted WAY too much inoculate into them, as water does not magically appear when you shake the jars.

I added only 3-4 cc's of spore solution to grain jars. the jars did obtain a great colonization untill I shook. Thats when the excess water appeared because then it was noticed that the extra water was smearing the Mycelium away.
I let the first four jars soak for only eight hours after simmering for ten mins. the three other that I have thrown away soaked for about 14-15 hours. After shaken these is when I notice extra water. I think that the wheat pellets had held this extra water and released after shaking.
I just want to know if I shake after inoculation to spread the solution will the jars colonize properly? Before I shook them with myc colonizing the Mycelium was developing all over the jars.

Yes, you can shake right after knocking them up to distribute the spores, and they will colonize. However, there is some dispute as to whether or not this speeds/slows colonization time. Best of luck.

If your grains did not recover after shaking, then they were contaminated. It sounds like bacteria from your description of jelly like film around the grains.
The problem wasn't caused by shaking. The jars were lost already anyway. Mycelium contaminated by bacteria can be perfectly white, so that's why you didn't see it before. After a few grows, you learn to recognize the 'melting ice cream' look of a bacteria contaminated jar. Another indicator is they're often hard to shake. Non-contaminated mycelium should break up fairly easily when you shake, especially if you bang the jar against a tire or phone book. However, a grain jar contaminated with bacteria will be like a big blob of rubber when you try to shake it.
They'll also smell like garbage, rather than fresh mushrooms. RR

Here are some pics of the last four the ones simmered for ten mins and soaked for eight hours.
One or two look good but one seems to have a layer of myc tightly bond on bottom of jar and loose uncolonized top will the mycelium spread from bottom to top?
Any other notes anybody??[image]http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/07-30/524101715-HPIM0752.jpg][/image] http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/07-30/524101545-HPIM0764.jpg] http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/07-30/524101630-HPIM0765.jpg] http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/07-30/524101457-HPIM0763.jpg]

If I didn't watch your video I'd be like "wtf does he mean? He tried this shit against a tire?". But since I saw your awesome video (which I highly recommend), I laugh because I would of never thought about that and it works so well and I love doing it now. haha. No more hurt hands from banging against my palm for about 50 jars. lol
