First Mushroom Hunt. w/ Pics :D
    #7172364 - 07/13/07 06:54 PM (16 years, 8 months ago)

Scenario:

It's been raining for weeks here in Västra Götaland, Sweden, my cameras powered up, I've got one paper bag, a camo wind breaker, and my trusty Meindl hiking boots.

A Chanterelle site only 1 km from HQ has been spotted last evening. Let's go get em'!

First find.

A bit fuzzy :frown:

Unknown

These subjects were promptly consumed after the photo was taken. Blueberries grow in abundance around here, and damn they're good.

Unknown

Found growing  under tall pines on rotting wood. Unknown

Another shot.

These were found in abundance.

For my first hunt and not knowing much about mushroom identification.[except what a Chanterelle looks like.(No look alike mushrooms exist here that I know of.)]

All in all it was a well spent 3 hours and the results:

were very tasty. :smile2:

Please do tell me if you know what any of the other specimens were.

yes; nice pics indeed. i also envy your rain. it's misting from fog outside my house as i type and yet, we're not getting any real rain in SF. the few times it's rained lately where for periods of about 2 min.

it's so nice to see 'first hunt' threads that aren't somebody's pictures of random mushrooms they thought 'looked magic'.

chants are a nice change. congrats. i haven't had the opportunity to eat anythis year.

A Mycena.

A Leccinum.

I've never seen anything quite like that...

Need a spore print and description for a better idea at an ID. More photos would help, if you are really interested in finding out.

Pic number 7 is definitely in the genus Vaccinium, section Cyanococcus. It appears to be closely related to Vaccinium corymbosum, but is probably a different species.

I strongly agree with the ID's given above, but I can't ID any of the others without a spore print.

Excellent pictures!

Thanks for the replies...
The mushroom in the 9th picture is probably a Leccinum versipelle

The bilberries are probably Vaccinium myrtillus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilberry

More hunts forth-coming

This kind of looks Hydnellum to me. Maybe search this genus to see if you can find a decent match. Nice pics.

Actually, not Hydnellum.
